No more Promise of the Real please. But that fact that I publicly just said that means we'll get at least 3 more NY+POTR albums in the next 4 years. Sorry everyone.

New Fleet Foxes album announced, Crack-Up. Coming out June 16! I saw Robin Pecknold solo last year, he played some new songs that (I'm assuming) are from the new album, they were really great!

Agreed with Charlie. Anodyne is close to Yankee Hotel Foxtrot for my favourite Tweedy-related release. Every song on that album is great.

I'm A Wheel? You lucky ducks! Once again, thanks for the write-ups bbop, I'm jealous I missed out. -
Jeeze, how did Neil not get sued by George Lucas?

In honour of Ryan Adams new record (which still has not arrived for me) I now present, my 5 favourite Ryan Adams songs. Spoiler: they're going to mostly all be from Cold Roses AKA his best album: Sweet Illusions Let it Ride If I Am A Stranger Cold Roses The Hardest Part

The fact that Jay seems open to it is huge, and something that 5-10 years ago would have been a definite "no". Give it some time and I think this could happen, assuming Jeff is into it too. What's Mike Heidorn up to these days?

I'm not the biggest fan of the oldies albums... BUT, I have to say, this new song, I Could Have Told You, is the best Dylan vocal performance in years.

Going to Chicago....what to do, see, stay, etc.
TCP replied to LouieB's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Ok so here's what I have planned: Reckless Records in the Loop, because it's within walking distance of the hotel, so why not! Wicker Park has three, Permanent Records, Shuga Records, and the biggest Reckless, so those should all be walkable to each other, and they're not too far from the Loop so we could probably get a Lyft. My wife wants to go to the Lincoln Park Zoo so I'm hoping while we're in that area we can go to Dave's Records, which sounds promising. I want to go to Laurie's Planet of Sound as well, Lincoln Square sounds really nice, so if we can make it up there, have lunch and che -

Thank you both, that's great. We'll be there for four full days, so that should give us time to hop on a train and explore some different parts of the city. I've heard the transit system's pretty good, so I don't see that being a problem. We're flying in so I can't buy too much, so I'll hit up Reckless in the Loop and branch out as much as I can! -

The wife and I will be going to Chicago for the first time in the spring! I've never been to a city that big, it's pretty exciting. We're looking at staying in The Loop area, as that seems to have the most museums/restaurant/touristy stuff. We also considered The Magnificent Mile but that looks like it has mostly high end shopping, which isn't really our thing. I'm of course, very excited to do some record shopping, but the amount of Chicago record stores that come up online is a little overwhelming. Do the local Chicago VC'ers have any favourites? -
I can't believe they're playing Seattle but skipping Vancouver. Well, I can believe it, I just don't want to believe it.
-
That's great. I saw Joan open for Wilco twice in Seattle, and she was great both times. Her guitarist was also, very, very good.

Great thread! Some of you are very worldly, I'm jealous. I've never been much of a traveller but I did venture out of British Columbia this year! The wife and I went to Seattle (to see a certain music act). I hadn't spent much time in the US of A before, but it felt very much like Vancouver, just with some slight differences. Next year we'll be going to Chicago, I've never been more east than Calgary before, so that should be interesting. This is all prep for a hopeful eventual trip to London at some point in the next few years. Other than that we spent a bit of time in Jasper Alberta which is

Got the e-mail while I was at work, and of course you can't download music off the internet on an iPhone, so thanks for the reminder! Sorry to hear that, hope you're doing ok Chuck!

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, of course we all knew that already didn't we? His vocals definitely sound a bit like his dad. His songwriting and production are top notch. Good stuff, Spencer!

Unreleased Uncle Tupelo demos? New interview with Jay at Garden and Gun

Communication is the first key to reconciliation! Wishful thinking? Hearing unreleased UT songs would be great, i love the bonus tracks from the early 2000s CD reissues. -
I'm hoping 2017 is the year where we finally get an extensive tour of Western Canada.
-
Yeah, those ones would be great, same with the Eldorado EP. I found a decent bootleg of it this spring but it'd be nice to have a real copy. There's only Hawks & Doves and Re-ac-tor left to reissue and then we're into the Geffen stuff which I would assume won't be reissued with the rest of Neil's stuff (unless he got the rights to those albums back?). Then we're into the late 80s, so hopefully not too much longer... Yeah for an early 2000's release, there must have been a lot of vinyl copies of SIlver & Gold, as I found that one new at a store in my local mall not too long ago.
-
I already own all those records, but that's good to hear the reissues are moving along at a better pace now. The time between the first set with Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, Harvest, etc and the last set with Time Fades Away, was a long, long time. Hopefully this means we get the hard to find 90s albums like Harvest Moon soon....ish.

Almost that time of the year. Top 10 albums of 2016
TCP replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
Not a top 10 but here's the records I listened to most this year. Plus with small little write ups since apparently I'm procrastinating on my actual work this morning! Wilco - Schmilco, of course. Sam Beam & Jesca Hoop - Love Letter For Fire, the Sam Beam record I've listened to the most since Woman King or In The Reins. I assumed an entire album of duets would get old but there's a lot of variety and substance here. Andrew Bird - Are You Serious, my favourite album from Andrew Bird since Armchair Apocrypha, all the songs on here are really solid. Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool, not my f -
I wonder if Iron & Wine could play? Glenn drummed on the Sam Beam and Jesca Hoop album and according to The Loft Facebook page, the next Iron & Wine album was recorded there.

What a life. One of the all time greatest Canadians.

Sounds like a wonderful evening, all things considered. I'm assuming the rest of the band walked off stage after Ashes? -
