  1. I have to heartily recommend Liam Finn. The new album is wonderful, and he's a really engaging performer.
  2. I'm sorry I didn't get to spend more time with her. I will always remember our night at Rainbo. "I think that's John McEntire. Wait, all the guys here look like John McEntire". In retrospect, I should not have discouraged her from ringing the bell at Soma. She is loved and will be missed.
  3. She works at the coffee shop down the street from the record store I work at, once in a blue moon when she isn't touring. She is one person that just makes everything better when she is around, plus she put out the new one on vinyl, which includes the CD.
  4. Oh I never posted mine! Top Ten Songs By Chicago Artists 1. She Wanna - Miss Alex White & The Red Orchestra 2. Ring Ring Ring - The Busy Signals 3. Glimpses of Another World - Vee Dee 4. The End Of Radio - Shellac 5. Catherine Zeta-Jones - Detholz! 6. Swim Team - Baby Teeth 7. When The Money's Gone - Bobby Conn 8. If You See Jesus - Marvin Tate 9. When Will You Be Mine? - Rachel Ries 10. North Star - Magnolia Electric Co. (okay, Jason Molina lives in London now, but I'm pretty sure when that was recorded he still lived here.)

  6. My buddy Algebro was bummed about his inclusion on this list. He's not a band!
  7. I haven't gotten Super Mario Galaxy yet, I bought the new Trauma Center instead!
  8. Unless there is a show, they close at 6.
  9. (which hasn't been chosen yet!) Brianne is right about the event. I cannot believe more people don't make the effort to come and attend it. Tweedy always plays in the evening at a decent time, and everything else is just icing. I've gone every year (this is the sixth) but only recently started staying for the entire thing, mostly out of respect to the comedians. Here's my pictures from this year.
  10. Glossary played later because they got into Chicago late. I honestly can't remember if Lou was there. They all kept going 'til last call, and then some! The whole bill was incredible, I would hardly call this just a Two Cow Garage show. http://www.myspace.com/thisisamericanmusic
  11. In years past, when they open the doors!
  12. I am driven by my anger and large ass. Grrrrr.
  13. Hello Young Lovers was my 20th fave of last year.
  14. Rawlings played with Bright Eyes here too, it was super awesome. Though I can't really imagine the need for both Rawlings and Ward.
  15. it's in the album liner notes, if you actually bought it.
  16. The show is getting a lot of press, and it's a Saturday at the Hideout. If you want to go I seriously recommend buying a ticket now! I will be spinning an ultra special set for Brianne's Birthday!
  17. Reader Critic's Choice!!: With her oversize pipes, singer and guitarist Miss Alex White has always seemed older than her years
  18. That's been the norm the last few years. Hard to say if the Bonny Prince will have a large draw.
  19. The 24 hour Starbucks is a godsend. The baristas look at you a little suspiciously on your 3rd visit or so, but have the good sense not to intervene.
