I'm glad to be living in CA, because now I can throw my vote away on a third party candidate and still be reasonably satisfied with the state's outcome.

That's the definition of propaganda: "If you say something enough times..." Oddly enough, one of the failures that the Bush admin has admitted to is not using propaganda effectively.

I thought it was funny how a lot of major news outlets tried to create controversy around Obama's new Fact Check site, saying "It will be interesting to see if they cherry pick which myths to debunk." It will?

When they start yelling at each other, it should be a sure sign to you that you're on the wrong channel.

I consider PBS's News Hour with Jim Lehrer to be pretty well balanced, but unlike Fox news, it's not exciting (precisely for that reason). In fact, it's usually pretty boring. And depressing. These major news networks are just entertainment. Period. They're all guilty, whether one is worse or not. Who wants boring, depressing facts? They're all basically like the show where people hurt themselves for our enjoyment. One big "When Animals Attack" or "When Babies hit their Heads" with more yakking and a ticker at the bottom. It's real, but it's entertainment. It's called capitalism.

Yeah, Newman's Own's Balsamic Vinaigrette is by far the best dressing in the world.

It seems like a pretty scary time to have been alive, both for our country and its people. The 60s really seems like a watershed decade to me. It seems like a lot more fucked up things happened then than have happened in the 2000s (9/11 aside, maybe?). Today, I just see a lot of complacency and selfishness. I wonder if people would really organize in protest the way they did in the 60s. Do people care enough anymore? I'm glad that there isn't as much social turmoil, but at the same time, today's Americans seem so self-absorbed with a kind of "oh well" attitude. Nobody seems to care about what

Apparently photos from his funeral train from NY to DC recently surfaced. I hate CNN (try to ignore whatever inappropriate ad they force you to watch before the slideshow), but this is a pretty emotional collection of photos: http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/us/2008/0...pening.here.cnn

Three months later, and I'm still listening to her pretty much daily. Thanks for resurrecting my thread. For a second, I thought Hey, I started a thread like that a few months ago!

http://www.musicovery.com/ is a super cool site too. You can set the player to time, genre, mood, etc. I think that it only plays hourlong blocks based on your input, but it's way cool nonetheless. I like to do the pre-1950s, mellow, non-hit setting.
