  1. For anyone interested, here is an interesting writeup by Scott Horton, a professor at Columbia Law School:
  2. Someone just sent that to me in an email. I have to admit, I kind of envy that crib.
  3. I can't stop listening to both of her albums. My fiance recently made me a mix with two of her songs on it, and I was hooked. She's like Lucinda only less gritty and like Jackson Browne except female and less cheesy. From her name, you might think that she's some kind of pop star, but no, she's totally original
  4. My grandma? If my grandfather was still alive, it would be him. He'd be 106.
  5. "I've always been lucky when it comes to killing folks." William Munny - Unforgiven

  7. I'm not sure when the last Wilco/Tweedy show was added.
  8. The upside is that anything on Owl&Bear requires 0% knowledge of torrents, not that BT is that hard to learn.
  9. The Wilco archive will be somewhat different from http://owlandbear.com proper (which is a blog meant to preserve a variety of quality shows that would eventually disappear when torrent seeders go away). I know that the Wilco archive is going to be great, but I don't expect to have shows online as rapidly as they appear on torrent sites, and I'm not trying to stop people from using other resources. After the project goes live (beginning this week), it could easily take up 60% of my available bandwidth. And just in general, don't jump on Aman (and I'm not accusing anyone). He's been instrum
  10. The live downloads page isn't updated as regularly as the main page. If you want to see items that have been posted since the live-downloads page was updated in late Jan., try browsing backwards through the main page. I haven't posted all week because my far away fiance was visiting me. I'm going to resume posting Thurs. or Fri.
  11. You just blew my mind. When Pitchfork was younger and the main guy ran more of the show, he'd purposely give Joan of Arc records heinously low ratings--whether they deserved them or not, so it's funny to me that Live in Chicago is now being described as classic on his site. Basically, all I'm saying is that "Pitchfork cracks me up."
  12. I'm not even sure if I know what that means. God, hopefully none of my drinking buddies see this and realize that I'm not the credible hipster I so vainly try to be.

    Bon Iver

My vinyl shipped today, according to Secretly Canadian/Jagjaguwar.
  14. What is a rating of U.2, anyway?
  15. It's arguable that life in an American prison would be far worse than death for these guys. I won't like the death penalty as long as there are innocent people on Death Row, but I don't see why we should turn these guys into martyrs.
  16. They just posted this item: It's truly wonderful that these artists are contributing to Farrell's family, and I hope that it's a big help for his wife and daughters. Yet I was struck when they called Joan of Arc's Live in Chicago album "classic." I guess the album has held up better than they thought back in 1999, when they gave it a 1.9 rating.
  17. RIP Chief Brody I'm sure it's no worse than arbitrary bitching.
  18. The spongy earplugs should be fine. My lady friend uses them for almost every show she goes too.
