  1. art rock? post modern? i dunno. rock. just rock. -justin
  2. after a solo show, i walked around back to the bus where a couple of others were waiting. his manager (or something), came out and told us to wait for a little bit. tried this at the c-ville show before the show ended and was denied, but apparently, this was a BS story told to us by event staff. according to everyone i've talked to, just walk to the bus after the show and chill awhile. it's been my experience meeting Jeff twice that he's a very nice dude, ready to meet and greet fans for at least a few minutes. -justin
  3. while i appreciate the fact that you're a Dylan fan, i have to respectfully disagree. Radiohead's music has nothing to do with "angst," unless you're talking about Pablo Honey/"Creep," which isn't indicative of any of their later work and which i hate personally. to me, angst is the same as being extremely paranoid about the way the modern world is/globalization/pigs in a cage of antibiotics/being stuck in traffic and feeling like you should be somewhere else (i've made some good RH references here)/what have you. matter of fact, the new album (in my opinion, their best) isn't even really a
  4. yes, that is true. matter of fact, my roommate had his girlfriend go into the local record store to re-buy all of the Shins vinyl for him. now, he loves the Shins, but he's friends with all of the people at the record store and doesn't want them to know he still likes The Shins. i told him he was a fucking toolbag/hipster douche. -justin
  5. both Wilco and Radiohead are pretentious bands. i'm all for artists being pretentious if they're good enough for that to be okay. writers and directors do it too. more power to them. i'll take my great artists like Dylan, a giant bubble of ego. -justin
  6. more votes for all almost everything Dylan has done with a few exceptions. also Neil Young from Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere (1969) to Rust Never Sleeps (1978). that being said, i love half of American Stars 'N bars....the Chrome Dreams half! -justin
  7. Radiohead - The Bends (1995)/OK Computer (1997)/Kid A (2001)/Amnesiac (2001)/Hail To The Thief (2004)/In Rainbows (2007) -justin
  8. >Justin your a tool, you look like a tool, you sound like a tool= tool your=you're. i mean, i wouldn't expect anybody who just got their GED to have a complete grasp on the English language, so i don't hold you at fault. i blame society. >Sounds like you are well on your way to being chastised the way IRTB was when he first came around, You thread startin' fool ya' i have no idea what you're talking about. you must spend a lot of time on Internet message boards. am i wrong? let me add: God forbid anyone have their own opinion around here or even say something in jest on a ::
  9. nothing, i just don't think it's on the same level as say, "New Madrid" or something. -justin
  10. hey Greg! nice to see you! unfortunately, i won't be attending the 9:30 club shows. i have a big trip to Japan and Thailand planned for this year and in addition, a trip out to Colorado. i'm doing the best i can to save money, otherwise i'd be there! -justin
  11. >You hate a great album, opinion only. that having been said, please lighten up sir. though it may reflect the way i feel, i'm only kidding around. -justin
  12. it's funny, ya know. you see the picture of Jeff and I in my sig? after the picture was taken, he leaned over to me and said: "Justin, I really regret making A.M....I really and truly do."...and I said to Jeff "it's okay man. i own every record, b-side and rarity that Wilco has put out, but don't feel bad, because I haven't wasted my money on A.M. yet and never plan to." -justin
  13. i'm not trying to rain on your parade by any means, but i've always hated A.M. in it's entirety. i never understood how Jeff could go from writing/performing the great songs of late-period Uncle Tupelo (read: their last two albums) to this... -justin
  14. my friends and I joke on the Toad's Place sign every time we pass it (every day). It says "where the legends come to play." our take on it is "where the legends go to die." also, as exciting a name as their new restaurant (High Water) has, i ate lunch there on Friday with some co-workers. terrible. absolutely terrible. -justin
  15. i think the National opens in February. i expect them to play there once they come back around this area of the nation. -justin
  16. Rainn Wilson has a cameo in Juno, which i will be seeing tonight, as i have some free screening passes. plus, none of those people really look like Jeff Tweedy. i have a friend who kinda did when he wore a blazer and knit cap, but that's the extent of it... -justin
  17. move to Richmond or DC...maybe Charlotte. those are your only real choices as i see it. -justin
  18. Avalon! i was actually at the Taphouse last night, so only a few blocks away! I've never been to Accapella...where is that at? I live between 14th and 15th on Cary St., in some apartments above the bars/restaurants there. I work downtown, so no driving to the office for me in the mornings! it's funny that you mentioned Vistas on the James, because two friends and I were looking into a three-bedroom condo there. the only three-bedroom was the penthouse: $900,000! -justin
  19. I Remember D. Boon...I Remember You From The C-Ville Show (line for the bathroom). Are you located here in Richmond? I actually live about a block from Toad's Place Richmond, but I've heard that The National might be one of the top small venues in the nation with the history, acoustics, etc. Plus, the NorVa is going to be booking it, so any NorVa shows should be coming there. No more driving to lame-ass Hapton Roads for shows any longer (C-ville is alright!) -justin
  20. i loved it from the beginning and never really grew tired ot it, but i'd like to say that, like YHF and Ghost before it, SBS really is a perfect record. -justin
  21. - King has been a Wilco fan for years - he didn't care for A Ghost Is Born (!) - he talked about some songs from Kicking Television in the 2005 list - there's a cool picture of King in a Wilco shirt i've seen numerous time unfortunately, some of his taste seems kinda hit and miss, even though he likes good music. -justin
  22. >There's a Riot Goin' On. not sure, but i bought the remaster of this album earlier this year and it's mighty fine. -justin
  23. i was thinking about album of the year in the shower this morning (how weird...and dorky). my favorites (in order): 1. Radiohead - In Rainbows 2. Iron & Wine - The Shepherd's Dog 3. Wilco - Sky Blue Sky 4. The White Stripes - Icky Thump 5. The Shins - Wincing The Night Away 6. Kanye West - Graduation -justin
