  1. That's just a little much for me. It reminds me of a time I had to pick up Dead tickets for Deer Creek '95 in Indianapolis and the guy asked if I could meet him at some hotel. When I showed up, it was a StarTrek convention and the guy I was buying tickets from was dressed up like some sort of alien. It was not the strangest thing to happen that weekend by a long shot.
  2. I think the "Older" tune by the keyboardist is pretty weak after seeing it twice.
  3. Band of Horses played at the Bottletree in Birmingham this past Wednesday, and although the show was way oversold, BoH did not disappoint. Opened with Monsters and played nearly everything off of their albums with the exception of St. Augustine and Window Blue. In addition they played JJ Cale's Thirteen Days and Act Together from one of Ron Wood's solo albums. They also played a cover of a song that I only know through Gov't Mule but I think is an older blues number. They played for about 2 hours which was wonderful since when I saw them Atlanta they only did about 75 minutes. Anyway, worth ch
  4. they are solid live. lots of energy.
  5. Could someone post the info from tradersden or dime? I am not a member of either and don't want to sign up just to get the info. I am particularly interested in the list of musicians. Thanks.
  6. I saw them open for the bright eyes in birmingham. they were pretty good but the singer has a bit too much of a bob dylan impression going on.
  7. word has it that they will also be accompanied by maria taylor and that they will be at rojo in birmingham on the 31st. no real confirmation on that though.
  8. Taylor is a pretty solid guitar player from Birmingham. If you haven't heard him I would recommend checking him out. Only down side is that most of his albums contain the same 5 or 6 songs with a few others thrown in. He and Conor are usually pretty good together, or at least last time I saw them.
  9. i have heard that taylor hollingsworth will be playing guitar along with conor in his new band.
  10. taylor hollingsworth has quite the neil young guitar style.
  11. I simply forwarded my oink invite and he sent me a waffles invite.
  12. Band of Horses at the Earl in Atlanta. should be amazing at such a small venue.
  13. well, to jump on the train, i would like an invite too.
  14. sorry. not sure why i didn't look for this one first.
  15. I was there too, and damn it was off to a great start but it was ridiculous for him to be so childish and just stop the show. On the way out someone said "well, at least he played for 90 minutes." But that 90 minutes included a 20 minute set break.
  16. Set 1: Bartering Lines-> Tears Of Gold-> Mockingbird Song Cold Roses Peaceful Valley Please Do Not Let Me Go-> Trouble On Wheels-> A Kiss Before I Go Arkham Asylum Goodnite Rose Shakedown On 9th Street Set 2: I See Monsters Nightbirds Recue Blues I Taught Myself How To Grow Big What Sin First set was wonderful. The band was super loose and jammy. opening bartering lines was terrific and Peaceful Valley and Arkham was great surprises. Looked like Ryan and the band were having a great time but then after ITMHTGO Ryan flipped out on some guy in the audience and played What Sin the
  17. I've got to say, I am actually enjoying this one quite a bit. Had it on all morning in the office and keep starting it over. Might not be quite as good as the first but I wasn't a huge fan of that one for a while either.
  18. where? i just looked on the pig and no sign of it. was it taken down?
  19. I went to app state for undergrad and alabama for law school and the only thing that could have possibly made yesterday any better would have been for k state to top auburn. still, i look forward to this season for both of my teams. go 'neers and roll tide
  20. i thought this album was absolutely aweful the first few listens but have to admit that it is growing on me.
  21. In '95 i saw sci play a free show in a park in birmingham. it was one of the more fun shows i have ever been to. at that time they were much more bluegrass, much less jam band. kang came into the crowd and hulla hooped while he played the fiddle, pretty damn neat. the subsequent times i saw them were fun but never lived up to the first show i saw. at any rate, i certainly appreciate them and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors.
  22. 1. Taylor Hollingsworth (and the Spider Eaters)-- Birmingham rock, now playing with Maria Taylor 2. Through the Sparks-- Sort of Wilco-esque, also from Birmingham. New album, Lazarus Beach, is pretty damn good 3. The Dexateens-- Best thing going these days. They are playing Voodoo fest, if you go to see Wilco don't miss them.
  23. The teens are playing the 27th for voodoofest. the 17th of july they play in birmingham but other than that i think you will be pretty hard pressed to see them outside of europe. i know sweetdog and elliot are doing a show sometime soon at egans as the duoteens showing off some new tunes from the album they just recorded in nashville (the heat).
