I have no knowledge about this, but always imagined it was Roy Orbison. (Only The Lonely)

My thoughts exactly. BTW: just because a pressing is 180G - that doesn't necessarily mean it's better. I've gotten crappy 180G pressings and I've gotten great ones, just like with standard weight records. That term is quickly becoming a sales gimmick.

I was lucky enough to get a copy of the German vinyl reissue (Albini master) when it was available a few years back - puts the CD to shame. NP: Dungen - Tio Batar over and over...

Getting rid of the crackles when playing new Vinyl
Sid Hartha replied to thebunk's topic in Someone Else's Song
I keep my records clean, but when I buy used vinyl I'll clean off the old gunk with a solution of ammonia and distilled water with a clean towel. Nasty business, but it gets the job done. I'm saving up my money for this: http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=NGRD3 I have it on good authority that this is the answer to all prayers. -

I stumbled out of bed I got ready for the struggle I smoked a cigarette And I tightened up my gut I said this can't be me Must be my double And I can't forget I can't forget I can't forget but I don't remember what I'm burning up the road I'm heading down to Phoenix I got this old address Of someone that I knew Was high and fine and free Ah, you should have seen us And I can't forget I can't forget I can't forget but I don't remember who I'll be there today With a big bouquet of cactus I got this rig that runs on memories And I promise, cross my heart, They'll never catch us But if they d

"Boxing About" and "Get A Faceful" are growers, despite Bob's apparent lack of interest in singing on key. The rest still range somewhere between "meh" and "wtf". The live disc w/ The Ascended Masters does look promising, though. I caught the Schuba's gig and they ruled. Ruled, I say!

I ran out on my children And I ran out on my wife Gonna run out on you too baby I done it all my life Everybody cried the night I left Well almost everybody did My little boy just hung his head And I put my arm put my arm around his little shoulder And this is what I said: "Sonny I just want you to hurt like I do I just want you to hurt like I do I just want you to hurt like I do Honest I do honest I do, honest I do" If I had one wish One dream I knew would come true I'd want to speak to all the people of the world I'd get up there, I'd get up there on that platform First I'd sing a song or

My favorite Van-improvised lyric (on Just Like A Woman): I was weird and you were weird, too...

The mono remaster from Sundazed is pretty amazing to my ears. -
Well, I'd say the Keene Brothers collaboration is worth a listen. But other than that, yeah...

Shockingly bad. I can't believe I'd ever say that about a GBV/Pollard release. For one thing I'm just burned out on Todd Tobias' production/instrumentation (he plays all the instruments - again - on this one). The whole shitty production thing is really old now. Why he doesn't record with his road band (which kicks ass) and get a real producer is beyond me. There's a few decent songs on it - but most of it sounds phoned in, even by his 'side project' standards. The worse part - and most shocking - is his voice. He's really off-key, just sounds terrible. It's scary that he's releasing

Something with "Hoof" or "Wolf" in the name will guarantee instant popularity with the hipsters. maybe Wolfhoof.

I hate reissues as a rule, but I have to admit this is pretty cool. I just hope the 40th Anniversary reissue of Stack-o-Tracks gets the same deluxe treatment.

In a nutshell, the method used to make CDs louder these days is done at the expense of fidelity, so it isn't just an option for the end user to simply turn the volume down. What's gone is gone. I will shut up now. -

probably not related, but reading Dylan's quote reminded me of this article I read a while back -
This is how you disappear out between midnight, called up under valleys of torches and stars. Foot, knee, shaggy belly, face famous hindlegs, as one of their own you graze with them. Cro-magnon herders will stand in the wind, sweeping tails shining, and scaled to begin, SHUTTING DOWN HERE SHUTTING DOWN HERE -to where necks leave the air unpossesed and giant heads lock constellations. A last grain of dust lands in the darkness on tongues laid bare, and turning to chalk. Shutting down here. Freezing in red, bent over his ice skin, The insomniac gnaws in the On-Offs; he is
