  1. In the Neil Young biography he says he thinks the crash of classic rock at the end of the seventies was fueled by cocaine. He said cocaine was responsible for his lousiest performances and that the main reason the Band's Last Waltz isn't quite what it should have been was cocaine. Granted, its not Heroin or OxyCotton but theres one drug a musician says sucked.
  2. The thing that always strikes me about AGIB is just how personal it sounds, it sounds like your in the room with the band, sometimes it gets so quiet, it feels like you can hear the light coming through the window and hitting the floor. I love being there, and I think Summerteeth is at points even better and maybe occaionally a little worse then BT, YHF is the most discussed album, and its a master piece. But...nothing has ever gotten under my skin the way a Ghost Is Born does. Ive made a habit of listening to it right after the sun comes up driving all night on road trips and tours and it a
  3. Yeah, I think its easy for a fan to take their massive catalog for granted. Sure, some songs get hit much more often: Spiders, Via Chicago, SHot In The Arm, Muzzle of Bees, Kingpin. But its cause they work so well live. WHen I see the lists I tend not to be impressed at first and then I realize its only because I know all of the songs. Everytime I have seen them it was great just to let it happen.
  4. I have no idea what a definitive fan is, but I would probably stop being a fan if it made me so upset all the time.
  5. Ah, youre a good sport. The internet seems to draw us too often in to being rude to strangers (excuse me for that). But honestly if I was so upset by the era of an artist, I probablly would not plague its fan board with negative criticism. It would be like if I found a Dylan fan board and said: man these new songs suck, i really wish he would go back to his Freewhelin' syle material. And in any case, I didn't mean anyone specific, it was just a hearty jab, in the direction of whomever took it. What I really meant to say is "Sorry if youre not enjoying this as much as I am right now."
  6. I love what a bunch of bedwetting reactionaries call themselves Wilco fans. I hope I never am in a band that gets so big, that mp3's of new songs spread like wild fire and get shot to hell by naysayers. Hell, how do we know any of these songs are even going to be on the album, or that they will sound the way were hearing them. Newer Impossible Germany is great, Walken also improved, give a new song a minute to breath, like maybe a day after the download at least.
  7. the roadcase finally has the webcast which I enjoyed. The newer rendition of Walken is a step sharper then the old one for sure, as is The Good Part. Does anybody have an mp3 of them doing In A Future Age with the new lineup, possibly from Duluth, cause the roadcase cuts off before that part of the set.
  8. they already rocked it on tv, i think they might wanna save some steam for it cause it seems like an album candidate.
  9. well, on the IATTBYH documentary, there is live footage of a Tweedy acoustic tour. At one show he did this really funny bit about how in his younger years he and his friends used 'cock' as a positive adjective, like:"Your bike is cock". This was hilarious, but as the Chapelle show has taught us, if you document someone creating a hilarious catch phrase the people of America will drive it into the ground until the very sound of it makes you angry. For example: Get 'er done. yuck!
  10. And ruin everything weve come so far to enjoy. Then maybe we can neuter/spade Lassie, shave Dakota Fannings head and kill Santa Clause. You Wilco scrooges break my heart.
  11. tech savy member, discover way to archive webcast in case i miss it. let me know how that turns out for ya.
