New Jeff Tweedy album November 30th (called WARM)
lost highway replied to Oil Can Boyd's topic in Just A Fan
First spin, it feels like a winner. How Hard is it for a Desert to Die doesn't grab me as much as the rest. Having Been... is even better recorded than the live versions. The Red Brick is not nearly as challenging to the listener as some of the reviews made it out to be. Just kind of cool stoner rock vibe. It's funny, this is the first Tweedy related release where I actually liked the singles as they were released and find they capture the spirit of the album. On all the other records they've always thrown me off and haven't endeared themselves to me until I heard them in the space of -
I saw a report that Trump's tax lawyer's office was raided by the Feds. I hope it's true.

How did everyone get it a day early? -
My morning commute only got me into the very beginning. Fascinating facts: The Tweedy family, including Jeff is all vegan at (was it Spencer or Sammy's?) insistence. Jeff considers himself a polyphasic sleeper. Sometimes talking about life stuff with a great creative mind is just as interesting as their creative stuff.

I like the bit about how Tweedy knows how to make the beautiful sound strange, and the strange sound beautiful. That's an insightful comment on his abilities. -
I just saw this is going up on Thursday. Listen at the WTF website, or wherever you get podcasts (as Marc would say). At first I thought it was going to coincide with the book tour, but they waited for the record to drop.

This is the first song of hers I ever heard that I didn't like. I've been pretty attached to her over the last few years, so I might just need to adjust to a big change of style from her. Also: Heck yeah to a new Bob Mould record. The single is really good.

I get that a lot of people dig the Golden Smog records, but I think if you put them in the context of Tweedy's entire story they're like a cool thing he worked on with some cool people he knew for a couple days where he offered a couple songs (which we all love). I don't think they're a major narrative landmark in his life. If he barely had time to talk about John Stirratt how would he have time to talk about his buddy from the Jayhawks?

There were a few record shops in downtown Denver I'd make the pilgrimage to as often as possible starting at age 12. As I got into my teenage years and became friends with a few people working in these joints I'd show up and talk with them. They'd put stuff on the turntable, or I'd put headphones on at the CD listening station. Their knowledge was formative. And there were the folded up catalogs for the independent labels inside of their CDs. And there were fanzines. And there were mixtapes from your friends. The knowledge of all of these things was almost more valuable than the cost

Guys I found a new insight that's therapeutic to me as I meditatively was repainting a bookshelf yesterday. I offer it here in hopes that others find it helpful: Trump is one of the saddest people on the planet. No, not that you should feel sorry for him, but just consider his words and his actions. Consider his face and the vacuum of his eyes. The dude stumbled into the highest office and he's getting no satisfaction. All of his blustering, and lies, and bragging is all a sign of how empty and frustrated he feels. He is clinically unable to feel secure, or satisfied. The factual world pai

Did you hear the latest on Ivanka? But her emails ..... lock her up.

I finished it. It's an easy page turner. There were a half dozen times it made me laugh out loud which rarely happens when I'm reading. Also, I have a habit of dog-earing the bottom of a page if it contains a quote-worthy wisdom. I found several of these; when he explains why he loves playing music I think he captures something I've felt for the last two decades of my life playing rock and roll that I could never put into words, and I think my sister feels the same about dancing, and my friend about photography. Inspiring stuff. At points when his wit is sharp, his sentence structure solid

Not so much a Warm review as a glowing review. Eh? Eh? Anybody? Oh god, I'm so sorry. -

Yeah they sent out the mp3 to anyone who preordered too. It's as good as the Live From Here broadcast, which I honestly enjoyed so much I was nervous the album was going to let me down. -
I was thinking about that excerpt, and other than reiterating to me that there simply must be a 33 1/3 book about AGIB, I was especially struck by one idea: One major reason for Bennett's firing was Jeff knew he needed to be away from addicts. This would seem to be common sense, but it never occurred to me.
-
Those are for the mixing board. They have the track assignments, i.e. 'bass on channels 9 and 10, pat guitar on 11' etc etc
-
I preordered, yet I'm getting it days after it comes out. I really must learn to stop doing that.

So wait, some conservative offered women money to lie and say that Mueller sexually assaulted them. This is totally the thing they claimed the left was doing to people. It's the first time a high profile person was almost victimized by a false sexual assault scam.

If it makes you feel better we have an ongoing constitutional problem called TABOR that pretty much means people have to vote for bills that say "Shall taxes be raised..." for any of that added revenue to be used by the government. Usually a big tax revenue year means I get an extra hundred bucks in my state tax return and schools are still underfunded/highways are not nearly capable of handling the growth that brought the revenue.
