  1. I finished it. It's an easy page turner. There were a half dozen times it made me laugh out loud which rarely happens when I'm reading. Also, I have a habit of dog-earing the bottom of a page if it contains a quote-worthy wisdom. I found several of these; when he explains why he loves playing music I think he captures something I've felt for the last two decades of my life playing rock and roll that I could never put into words, and I think my sister feels the same about dancing, and my friend about photography. Inspiring stuff. At points when his wit is sharp, his sentence structure solid
  2. ^ Oh yeah. Shows what a professional entertainer I am.
  3. Not so much a Warm review as a glowing review. Eh? Eh? Anybody? Oh god, I'm so sorry.
  4. Yeah they sent out the mp3 to anyone who preordered too. It's as good as the Live From Here broadcast, which I honestly enjoyed so much I was nervous the album was going to let me down.
  5. I was thinking about that excerpt, and other than reiterating to me that there simply must be a 33 1/3 book about AGIB, I was especially struck by one idea: One major reason for Bennett's firing was Jeff knew he needed to be away from addicts. This would seem to be common sense, but it never occurred to me.
  6. Those are for the mixing board. They have the track assignments, i.e. 'bass on channels 9 and 10, pat guitar on 11' etc etc
  7. I preordered, yet I'm getting it days after it comes out. I really must learn to stop doing that.
  8. https://aux.avclub.com/a-sly-thriller-jeff-tweedy-s-memoir-and-more-lucia-be-1830181090 Fun she says?
  9. So wait, some conservative offered women money to lie and say that Mueller sexually assaulted them. This is totally the thing they claimed the left was doing to people. It's the first time a high profile person was almost victimized by a false sexual assault scam.
  10. If it makes you feel better we have an ongoing constitutional problem called TABOR that pretty much means people have to vote for bills that say "Shall taxes be raised..." for any of that added revenue to be used by the government. Usually a big tax revenue year means I get an extra hundred bucks in my state tax return and schools are still underfunded/highways are not nearly capable of handling the growth that brought the revenue.
  11. My wife and I have been watching for some Halloween fun. So far the production is top notch, the writing is really good and the acting is pretty bad. Still some fun, scary, suspense.
  12. The low level of discourse tolerated by the voting majority is troublesome. I've had a few moments on social media in the past year where I was shocked and in awe that people were actually being civil and thoughtful. When the president spews trash you know city council could really go downhill.
  13. I'm getting ready to vote. Things are looking kind of intense in the purplish state of Colorado.
  14. How would you have known? Honestly I'd guess they're close. At least based on "Some Birds", but I can see Jeff not wanting everyone reading transcriptions that botch a word here or there. He works hard on those lyrics.
  15. I saw him in the Magnolia era with the full band. I think it was What Comes After the Blues tour. I heard they could be a coin toss cause sometimes he'd be so tanked it was a shit show. They were definitely tight and on it that night. I talked to Jason for a couple minutes, he was very amiable, and their bass player was down to talk for half an hour- super outgoing guy.
  16. I agree with all of this, but I think with a little luck Maron will get more of my favorite Tweedy interview moments. Those are usually where he expresses something about psychology, creativity, growing older, making things in a new and memorable way. As a recovery guy I can imagine Marc might go into Jeff's recovery process, or what maintaining his sobriety/mental health is like for him because they've had some similar experiences.
  17. This might sneak by all but the most devoted listeners to Maron's podcast, but I tune in regularly. He was talking new music in his intro segment to his talk with Kurt Vile on today's podcast and mentioned he had to go back through the whole Wilco catalog this week for research/preparation- "Not gonna say anymore than that, but you get it," kind of thing. If you're familiar with Maron's podcast this is a great opportunity for Wilco/Jeff Tweedy fans. Marc has relaxed conversations with people and doesn't pepper them with pre-written questions. He's such a skilled interviewer he typically gets
  18. The book on him is pretty good. It's rough cause it's just exciting insight to his artistic growth, making-of album intrigue, slowly rising star stuff and then it goes to shit and gets really depressing. Pretty much the arc of his life.
  19. Yeah, that guy did a ton of great stuff- both Magnolia, and Songs Ohia alike. Enjoy digging, there are many treasures.
