  1. No, this is great. You guys are confirming my suspicion that it's a really good idea to visit those parts.
  2. Thinking of spending family time up there this summer and wanted to see if any of you had advice. We have a toddler, we like restaurants, art, parks, hikes, wild animals. We often try to split time between the urban and the natural? Good area to visit? Must do's?
  3. Wow this analysis is definitely on the 'worst case scenario' side for Trump. Granted it is written by smug East coast liberals, but dang: https://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/michael-cohen-and-the-end-stage-of-the-trump-presidency?mbid=social_facebook
  4. Great questions. There are far too many echoes of our Iraq policy for comfort. * Actually, if this report is to be trusted civilian hardships were hopefully very slim: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-mideast-crisis-syria-assessment/pro-assad-official-says-targeted-bases-were-evacuated-on-russian-warning-idUSKBN1HL07R Thanks Russia?
  5. Yeah, our G8 allies are like 'Good idea, dude! We'll just watch.'
  6. Anybody see the Rockies/Padres had a similar kafufle? Also, anyone else watch No No, the Doc Ellis documentary? For those not familiar, Ellis pitched a no hitter while admittedly very high on LSD. The doc is a great look at the far more anarchic 70's when players were all on speed and pitchers would more frequently hit a batter, sometimes bean them to settle a vendetta. Yesterday's two bench clearing events almost seemed like an effort on the part of MLB to improve ratings and get some butts in seats.
  7. Yeah, I'm not inside baseball enough to follow through for the pay off in 3 years, but I think all of Ryan's playing nice with Trump was a public facade over some very seething hatred. It'll be in a book one day. Paul Ryan is after all a true Republican, I think they're all a little uncomfortable with whatever Trump is.
  8. Sounds like Rosenstein might be next instead. Edit: but I suppose that's just a way to get to Mueller since Rosenstein doesn't seem that psyched about firing him, and he's kind of the only person who can.
  9. Wow, it's been weeks since anyone has posted here, clearly not for lack of news, so I'm assuming it's outrage exhaustion. But good lord, the no-knock raid by the Feds on Trump's lawyer MIchael Cohn is a SPECTACULAR piece of political theater. I can almost guarantee (along with Manafort) it will be staged in a film one day.
  10. My dad and I literally did this same ranking in unison this morning. I love how the Giants suck now, but they'll be a force again some season soon. God damned Dodgers pitching can't be stopped though. Go Rockies!
  11. When are Americans going to realize the simple reality that the only thing that stops a bad guy with a bomb is a good guy with a bomb?
  12. I just saw a bunch of solo dates that were added. I wonder if that's a sign they'll be in conjunction with a new release to support, or just the reverse: nothing is coming out so he's staying sharp and trying to get some late promotion in for the acoustic record. Nothing like a quiet time in the Wilco camp to get me overthinking things.
  13. Mueller has subpoenaed some of Trump's business records. Whoa.
  14. I used to be in a band with one of those guys, and a lot of the local Denver music community I'm close with knows the others better. Every time someone from our relatively small community blows up nationally people rush to judge- lots of criticism directed at The Lumineers and The Fray ('why of all the great people in town, those guys?' kind of thing). It's cool to see that weird jealous impulse to judgement totally smothered by the bands totally excellent work on this record (and the last one). I think that coupled with Nathaniel's authentic friendliness and humility is giving them a surge
  15. That didn't take long: https://www.cnn.com/2018/03/14/us/california-teacher-fires-gun/index.html
  16. I agree. That is more interesting- it's tactical. They have a strange job these days.
  17. Looks like PA is locked up for the Dems. Continuing a losing trend for GOP in the House after Alabama. Cue coverage asking if this means mid-terms will be a tidal wave for Dems.
  18. Can you hear it if you're not in the "Ten Club".
  19. I wonder what Jay thinks, like if he's in a spot that makes sense to him? Maybe this is plenty for what he's going for.
  20. That's really scary, man. It's those weird moments where we lose control of our bodies and realize how lucky we are all the other times.
  21. I think the art is kind of hilarious and awesome. Ever since Middle Cyclone she seems to be fucking with us a little more with each new album cover. Definitely not "good" in the traditional sense, but I think it's cool and ballsy.
  22. https://www.npr.org/sections/allsongs/2018/03/06/591111795/neko-case-announces-first-solo-solo-album-in-5-years-hell-on First single. It's really, really good.
  23. I've taken for granted Tweedy productivity. I kind of took Wilco winding down for a year off the road as an obvious pause where some other project would come out. Don't get me wrong, the new Mavis album is great, two Wilco records in a short time was awesome, and Together at Last was a nice addition. I'm just kind of surprised we haven't heard of something new coming up this year. Perhaps we've been spoiled, and a period of nothing to report (save some solo dates) is pretty normal in the scheme of things.
