  1. It also sounds much nicer than on that crappy DJ site. I'm wondering if the simplicity of their hootenanny-style performances at the end of their shows is influencing some of this material.
  2. You can buy it from them now for only $147.79.
  3. Yeah, I wonder if they'll preceed a physical release with a free download again. That cover is heinous but I don't care.
  4. Yeah! And that one is definitely from the album!
  5. Yeah, they simplified that site a lot, maybe too much. It's probably temporary. While we're speculating, I have to wonder if they'll want to release this thing coinciding with their string of dates in August. That would make sense, except for typical album release seasons. For whatever reason 90% of album tend to come out in the spring or fall, with late summer being a kind of dead zone. Then again, given their current strategy of giving no quantity of shits they may not be concerned with the typical consumer marketing seasons.
  6. I'm guessing this is a one-off outtake from Star Wars. Kind of like what 'Message From Mid-Bar' was to Whole Love, or 'Cars Can't Escape' to YHF. They seem to pretty regularly put an outtake out to tide us over. I'll happily accept a new album at any time though.
  7. Sounds awfully Star Wars to me, maybe a little bit gentler than some of those rockers. You don't have to get emailed, simply enter your email address and then a "download" icon will appear right on the home page.
  8. "Locator sees me swaying through the catacombs. Locator hears me whispering in my home. Even when the waves are falling, feed me into diamonds. Even when the wheels are whining. Something in the sky can find me."
  9. Yeah, that guy makes it rough to be a Hoosier. I think it's a 3 way tie between Indy, KS and WI for crappy state governments. Speaking of which, is Trump talking to Walker? They're both crazy a holes, might be a good match.
  10. Man if this Elizabeth Warren thing actually happened I might get legitimately excited.
  11. Desert Storm, Clinton inauguration, OJ Simpson fleeing in a Bronco. Getting progressively clearer as the list progresses.
  12. And even then wouldn't it be the shortest time between Wilco records ever?
  13. Whoa, missed that! I remember her moderate position of improved assistance. That one was either plain dumb, or more free publicity.
  14. Email server! Classified! All must burn! (that's about it this week in the political dialog)
  15. And you get Sleater Kinney being very Portlandia. Great video.
  16. Their few published comments about it seem to suggest that it is exactly that.
  17. Assuming that it's 100% finished (if not we'll really have to hold our horses) we have to assume that they have some reason for delaying its release. As much as I'm dying to crack open another new Wilco record, I'm thinking they're going to hold onto it until they complete these tours in order to give Star Wars its due. That might mean we're waiting until this winter. But then again, who knows?
  18. Man, Benghazi. Every time the GOP dug in again it went further from where they hoped they'd land politically.
  19. I recently analyzed voting data from the U.S. for a stats class I'm taking. In 2014 some 80% of "greatest generation" folks turned out the vote while participation amongst millenials was in the 20-30 range. I know the "rock the vote" mantra is getting cliche but we'll be living in a different political world if the youngest voters will engage.
  20. The whole demographic/voting thing makes me wonder. In the U.S. our congressional seats are dictated by counties, and with more and more young and liberal people congregating in cities it is pretty much a demographic guarantee that rural, and medium density population districts will retain their conservative congressional representation while the urban will not magically be granted more. It's no surprise that the rural English and the metropolitan English don't always see eye to eye.
  21. If this goes the way experts have predicted, I wonder how long it will be before they try to get back in. As an American of Scotch/English descent, a consumer of BBC news and something of an anglophile it is often far too easy to unthinkingly trust that the UK will tend towards being dependably reasonable all the time. This ignores the fact that their society has the same proportionate cross section of lunatics and dimwits that ours does. Ya ken? I heard some notion that the Scottish independence movement may try to exit the UK and reenter the EU.
  22. Right? Him and John are all "out of my cold dead hands." They were probably not around when it was signed.
  23. Bill Maher is a smug prick. He may be factually correct more often than Limbaugh, but he's almost as pointlessly crude and disrespectful towards people.
