  1. Did you see him on the Crossroads webcast? Oh man...the guy was getting tones out of his guitar that were just otherworldly! He OWNED that show. I'm not too crazy about his later releases but he still kills live.
  2. That sounded a little morbid, huh? I was just thinking if it takes another 33 years or so I'd be pushing 80!
  3. I only hope I live to see the record broken again.
  4. These threads pop up from time to time & I always love it! I'm a big fan of the post-bop era & esp. the more avant-garde. I don't know how far out you like to get but the Art Ensemble of Chicago is a great place to start if you're a fan of the wierd. Folks like Lester Bowie, Henry Threadgill & my favorite post-Coltrane sax man Anthony Braxton are all amazing. Of course Rahsaan Roland Kirk (esp. Prepare Thyself To Deal With a Miracle) and Sun Ra are total forces of nature & will take your mind to places you never knew existed. Among younger dudes David Murray is an incredib
  5. Grateful Dead--Dick's Picks #32 Alpine Valley, East Troy WI 8/7/82 One of the best cowboy first sets from the '80's around!
  6. Just about anything from Lou Reed's New York album. One of my all time favorite records.
  7. I was talking with Basil II last night & we were wondering the same thing.
  8. Wang Chung is not only a band, it's a philosophy.
  9. If you like MMW, I would suggest a New England-based band called Schleigho. I've got a live disc called Ho-Down 2000 that has Derek Trucks & Kofi Burbidge sitting in with them. Excellent takes on some Wayne Shorter stuff.
  10. Hells yeah! I dunno what it's like there, but the heat index is 109 here.
  11. Yeah, that's some good stuff. "OK man, this one is for you". My favorite banter ever: the 'lame trip' talk on 12/1/73.
  12. I guess I won't be giving my friend froggie a call anytime soon.
  13. "I Didn't Know" it was your birfday. Have a phabulous one!
  14. Regarding your signature: 10/30/71 Taft Theatre?
  15. That's all you have to say about it? Maybe the Southern Hemisphere has something to do with that..like reverse polarity or something!
  16. GODDAMMIT Walter, why does everything have to relate back to Vietnam!!
  17. A guy named David Kuo (who was dubya's head of the Office of Faith-Based Initiatives) wrote a very good book called "Tempting Faith" that explores the hypocrisy of this Admin. Highly recommended if you're interested.
  18. Rumor has it that Manson used this stuff (among other chemicals) to warp the minds of his little group. Something he probably got from reading about mind control experiments his buddy Adolf & the Nazis used.
