  1. Little bit of (who cares) trivia - a girl my oldest daughter went to school with here in this little Indiana town of 8500 people is married to Yankee Chase Headley.
  2. Man that was a pitching clinic by the Tribe tonight. Miller wasn't 100% but the other 8 1/3 was nasty. Only 4 singles by the Yanks and 2 of 'em were by ex-Cub Castro.
  3. First extra base hit in the dude's career. And it's a triple! AZ hit FOUR triples in one game.
  4. That was the wildest of Wild Card games! Hats off to CO - they showed a lot of spunk. Never hung their heads, just kept grindin'. And they almost pulled it off. I DO think the DBacks could give LA fits - apparently they won the season series 11-8. Against a team that won 103 games.
  5. Cars, Priest, Straits, J Geils, Moodies. There's my Top 5. Well you certainly got used to that! (GD)
  6. While I certainly LOVE the way you're thinking here I just don't see it happening. Cleveland over LA in 6.
  7. SOOO many lines jump out at me! "Let's turn our prayers into outrageous dares" "I understand I'm just a fan" "I want a good life, with a nose for things" Fill up your mind with all it can know, don't forget that your body can let it all go" I'll think of a hundred more
  8. That whole tape is one of my favorites. One of my first NY tapes.
  9. Poca's and my thoughts have been with you for the last week. Peace go with you and your family, man.
  10. Yeah, which is why it's so perplexing that many of our friends (real and virtual - we've discussed this before) are so excited about this DeadCo LLC thing. Many of them have seen more shows than me - or even you, for that matter. I'm sure it must be a "you gotta be there" type of thing, but for me personally the social aspect of The Dead is long long gone at this point. Gone by the time Brent passed, if not earlier. People making reservations for Cancun, doing Summer tour, etc. - I just don't get it. Are they listening to shows from this last year like we do with Garcia-Era Dead? Do they eve
  11. Oh yeah, the Crazy Fingers is a vocal trainwreck there! I was there, and we were all "WTF?". First Deer Creek show. Boy was THAT a charged atmosphere. Local farmers were completely freaked out.
  12. That's an important thing to point out. I know from a conversation with Healy that he declined to be interviewed, as did others. I know that Dick Latvala's widow Carol (who herself was employed in the ticket office for a number of years) actually WAS interviewed but sadly that ended up on the cutting room floor. All I could say to her was, "I guess I'll wait for the director's cut!" I'm not sure if Gans was interviewed - he's a busy guy on his own, touring constantly. I thought Silberman was great - #1 - he's a very engaging, loquacious guy, certainly, and secondly - he (and Gans, and especi
  13. I didn't care much for those two, either. But thanks for the heads up on the others.
  14. If we're gonna be there for awhile then FOR THE LOVE OF GOD please release the 6/14/76 Beacon show. My favorite Slipknot ever. Crazy Fingers and Playin are standouts as well. And 5/26/73 Kezar!
  15. A fine show, but DAMN we need more 80-85. Brentski gettin' the short stick over and over. Oh well.
  16. I would venture a guess that as far as the telepathy only really existed in the moment, while they were under the influence of psychedelics. Now, given the fact that they DID play while tripping hundreds of times there was probably some residue that stuck - especially between the three axe slingers. But rarely (if ever) did that group mind rear its head in the last 5 years. As far as Wilco goes, yes they are one of the truly great bands of the last 20+ years but they most definitely do NOT do group improv. The solos might vary from show to show but that's about it. The Nels Cline Singers is
  17. There's something to be said for being at the show. A good time is a good time and we all need to have fun! That said, things just don't hold up for me on tape to justify the expense and time necessary to follow this band. YMMV, as they say, but it doesn't quite make the nut for me.
  18. I'll play! Playin in the Band Viola Lee Blues Morning Dew Dark Star Sugaree
  19. I'm glad you think so! That was my favorite hour of GD I ever personally saw live. Seriously!
  20. That's a fairly good summation in describing the difference in approach between the two bands. When you went to see the ABB you just KNEW they would come out and tear your face off, where with the GD it was so much more a relaxed, casual vibe. Like, "we have you all night long, no rush, relax. The inspiration will eventually arrive. Or not". I kind of prefer the latter philosophy, even though I love both bands. I mean, we're talking about (arguably) the two best live American Rock bands to ever hit the stage.
  21. Indeed. They were the best ever at that.
