  1. Makes sense to me, too. Not a bad option to have, either. Good for him.
  2. What the hell happened to Aman? Yesterday was Monday and all....Day off in lieu of Brent's 20 year passing?
  3. See I don't get this and never will. Scalping is a sleazy business. It's a shot to the artist, sure, when secondary tickets are sold at gouged prices, but because the artist is doing it him/herself doesn't make it less sleazy. It's deceitful and a slap in the face to the fan to hold tickets aside in order to sell them at inflated prices. Just because there are knuckleheads willing to pay those prices doesn't make it ok, imo. Sell them at the inflated after-sale price to begin with, then, if that's what "the market will bear" and be up front about the greed and illusion. Preying upon the bonehe
  4. There's no shift away from marriage. People just have the buy-out option easier.
  5. A-man and the Sherpa. Decent espionage flick from the 80s.
  6. Not to mention encroachment on the package, particularly when sitting.
  7. I'm surprised by the front pocket votes. The only time I switch from back right to front right is when I'm in a shady neighborhood/area at night or in a tight crowd where pick-pocketing is a potential. Sitting on it isn't an issue and I like to actually use both front pockets for other shit.
  8. He always was pretty hasty with his decisions....
  9. Never heard/read of a '67 WV arrest for Weir, either. The only shows they did off the west coast in '67 were in CO, MI, NY, MA, and....Canada. Sounds like bunk info/typo/something. The guy who wrote the Jamband article pinpointed 1967 while the original (filled with plenty of snark...even a jab at Garcia) is vague with "the first was in West Virginia in the 1960s and the second in the 1970s in New Orleans." Still, never heard of this either way....
  10. There's no way the Rangers will be able to sign him at the end of the season, though.... Giving up Smoak and three others, apparently. Seems like a lot for half a season but obviously think they can go all the way this year. Their rotation was good before this deal (if true)....
  11. Apparently Ken Rosenthal just confirmed Lee to TEX...."#Rangers' deal for Lee confirmed. #Mariners sending cash in deal."
  12. Sherman was wrong this morning.....
  13. From the Dallas Morning News: Ownership for next year/future uncertain. Hmm...: http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/mlb/news/story?id=5365336
  14. It's really lame that he informed his team (former team) through a media event like that. A little courtesy...
  15. Jon Heyman: " #yanks have offered montero, adams and 3rd prospect. now its up to seattle. i do think theyll agree, eventually." ed. That's IF prospect David Adams....
  16. Although he did pitch the only two games NYY lost to Philly in the WS.... I agree it's probably not the best deal the NYY could get for Montero. It's good for SEA as they'll lose Lee in the off-season anyway. Likely to the NYY....
  17. But even with the mediocrity of Burnett and Vazquez, they are still in the top favored to win the WS with who they've got (Pettite, CC, and Hughes all having very good seasons). I know there's uncertainty about Montrero remaining at catcher but he'd still get a better return in the off-season for the NYY (if they don't keep him) than 1/2 a season of Lee. I can see why NYY might want to lock into Lee now for the rest of the season rather than waiting until he's a FA to keep him from possibly going to a contender....but still.
  18. So is getting Lee for 1/2 a season worth it for the long-term of Montero? I'm not so sure since the NYY already have a strong rotation. I know they're looking to possibly dump Vazquez and Hughes is headed south with innings pitched, but still...
  19. Trading their top prospect, Jesus Motrero (top 5 prospect overall? as a power-hitting catcher), supposedly, too. They're already front-runners to get CC in FA, anyway. Lee is scheduled to pitch against the NYY tonight, as well. Hmmm....
  20. But isn't the HR Derby just a large-scale BP? Lots of guys can hit HRs in BP with soft pitches.... I'm sure Hart can, too. Plus, he's near the top in HR totals in the NL....I'd like to see Fielder in there after last years Derby but he's not an AS. Unless he's one of the two as-yet un-named ones....

  22. Another exciting come-from-behind win. Six pitches in to that kid and he ends up with an L. I thought it an odd move, too, for the part of the game with that momentum going for the Rockies. I guess they had used their other remaining lefty the night before....
