Oh man, I like this discussion but at work. In short (for now): Agree on Dark Star, completely disagree on Deal (shoot, JGB "Deal"s in particular), half-step has the back end that just rings melancholy (the basics of the first 2/3 of the tune are mundane and perhaps make the end so pleasurable?), agree on Fire. And, Crazy Fingers never really seems to go anywhere. No payoff....

I read this yesterday. What a treasure trove! The creases still in the shirts from 40 years ago!
-
No, both Twilight and See What Love Can Do were played back to back and were both never played again. I'm not sure when/where either were played previously by JGB, but it was the 4th and last "Twilight". I have no recollection of hearing either prior to the Eel versions....
-
I had never heard this tune (I know it's on a Clapton album) and certainly not JGB cover it until last Friday. Wow. Amazing tune: "See What Love Can Do" from Electric on the Eel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhrSr_p9AJs&disable_polymer=true

Thanks for the feedback. I started seeing them in late 70s/early 80s in CT. Would still check them out even with the obvious missing parts.

It's just Terry Adams left, right? How was it...?
-
"Yeah the rest of us are quitting."

Nice! Do you know if it's with Elmo and the keyboard guy or just the 3 of them? I've seen upcoming shows billed as "the original line up" but would assume it's with the other two, as well, as they are supporting the new album that has all 5 of them on it....

Snow Day #2 tomorrow due to bomb cyclone. Wild. Can't remember the last time Denver had two consecutive Snow Days.
-
I listened to it today start to finish while making a soup (bomb cyclone in Denver today, no school/work). I thought it was decent, for the most part (that second to last Vampire tune was not good).A Country-ish aspect too it, Curt's vocals solid, decent guitar tones. I'm glad they're still making new music, particularly with Bostrom.

Yeah, we were out there 2 summers ago for a few shows at TXR, too. We stayed at a hotel within walking distance. And yes, his line ups don't compare as favorably to the Q or the shows with Kimock and Trey and Page in '99, or even the Larry and Scofield stuff. Still, I'd rather catch a P&F show than a Dead & Co show....

Yeah, it is a nice touch. I'll need to search for a complete video later. They've also got 3 guitarists now, moving the drummer onto guitar....

Right below the partial clip of "Misunderstood"....

I was reading the setlist this morning and thought it was an abbreviation fro Please Don't Let me Be Misunderstood. Very cool.

Yeah, '93 was not a stellar year for the band. BUT, there were plenty of positives, this "St. Stephen"-riffed Jam out of Space and prior to "Last Time" being one of them. Super fun jam, imo: https://archive.org/details/gd93-12-08.sbd.larson-ladner.10281.sbeok.shnf/gd93-12-08d3t02.shn

Likely my favorite Dancin'. The sound quality plus the vibe and funk to it are unmatched, imo.
-
I just remember it clearing up as soon as the music started and there was a dude in front of us rolling a huge joint and his herb was falling all over the ground and we were, like squirrels, scooping up all the excess....
-
Rainy until the Dancin' opener, iirc.

Here's a re-cap (in case you missed it ): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-gV6RUKHJw&feature=onebox

I was able to catch that show, as well. All of the SPACs actually.

The jam in this 21 + min. Sugaree from Hartford '77 comes to mind: https://archive.org/details/gd77-05-28.sbd.sacks.4983.sbefail.shnf/gd77-05-28d1t03.shn

Then CHI is a point below blowing.....

This post has "me" all over it. Thought of you the other day when I heard they were skating together tonight. Both vying to get one up on the other in (distant) hopes of a play-off spot.... And, looking forward to the new MP's album. 25 years or so since an album with Bostrom!

The Sun Dome I still have on tape, but the Hollywood one I referenced was the night before at The Sportatorium. The Sun Dome show is solid, though, particularly the 2nd set.
