  1. I listened to a show from FLA last night that I had completely missed over the years: Hollywood, Florida 10.25.85. First set opens with (a pretty scorching) Deal! Second set opens with a nice Dew. https://www.cs.cmu.edu/~./gdead/dead-sets/85/10-25-85.txt
  2. This "Dancin'" is fantastic, as well (from the free M.I.T. show, "c'mon everybody get up and dance around now"): https://archive.org/details/gd70-05-06.sbd.gans.94.sbefail.shnf
  3. I never understand why they release shows that are already amazingly recorded (Cornell '77?!) I'd love something like SPAC '83 that has never been circulated/available (to my knowledge, at least) in sbd. A fantastic show (the "Dew" alone is an all-time top 5 or less) that the general populace doesn't have a great sounding recording of.....
  4. A fantastic "He Was a Friend of Mine" opener with a great "Dark Star" to follow. Fantastic "Eleven," too.... The quality of these Ark shows arr great, too: https://archive.org/details/gd1969-04-23.sbd.miller.88501.sbeok.flac16
  5. I read this RS article a couple of hours ago. A stretch, perhaps, but something to possibly consider: https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/ryan-adams-abuse-me-too-songs-lyrics-796686/
  6. Jerry played slide on a few tunes, depending on era: Row Jimmy, Red Rooster, Passenger, Weather Report Suite, Walking Blues, etc.
  7. Same boat with my wife and I with just getting to it a few years ago. There's a movie in the works, too.....

  9. Not to be a dick, but didn't you recently catch a Jerry Lee Lewis show...? Either way, I always thought Ryan Adams was a self-important blowhard douche and disliked whatever amount of emo crap talent he brought to Phil & Friends years ago. The guy sure could slaughter a decent Garcia tune. Sounds like his texting is more prolific and disturbingly pathetic than his mediocre song-writing....
  10. I bet you were all "joy to the world" in your head.
  11. Yes!! (my oldest son is actually named Eli, too....)
  12. I'd actually go, if just to hear them do "Never been to Spain"....
  13. And me not being a guitarist (I play drums) may have a lot to do with this, as well...
  14. I'd decline, with the excuse: Mama told me not to come.
  15. Gotta comment on this. First, I agree. "Minglewood" is an underrated tune (overall, but particularly for this era and into the early 80s). My first show in '81 opened with a smokin' Minglewood. I am in the vast minority that actually dug (still dig) Weir's slide work on tunes like Minglewood, Rooster, and CC Rider. It was entertaining and I liked the sound of it and I liked watching him stretch out on it (slide parts, that is).
  16. The Avs have lost 4 in a row and are bottom-feeders like CHI. No high hopes here....
  17. Just now learned: Unless a deal is reached within the next 2 days, I'll be on strike starting Monday.
  18. My wife and I were laughing out loud at points due to the absurdness (sad, but absurd) of a lot of it. Today they would be charged with crimes (abetting? negligence? idiocy?).
  19. We watched last night. Holy cow the ineptitude of the parents....
  20. I don't know but I got an email for "Absence Created" with "Reason- TEACHER Strike" (for Monday-Wed next week) sent to me at 6:44 last night (same time DCTA halted bargaining talks). I did not create the absence....

  22. Pretty sure lost highway teaches ion Denver, too.....
  23. Tetherball is popular at the elementary school I teach at. No one plays 4-Square here. When I taught P.E. 20 years ago, I used to love playing 4-Square with the students.
  24. We watched the documentary: The Grim Sleeper yesterday. Good stuff if you like true crime type stuff. Amazing what the guy got away with for so long....
