  3. Who's business is it but mine and the guy I shanked to death and buried in the quarry?
  4. I think Laird would be a poor choice, regarldess: http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/reds...x_close/?page=2 "Epstein also addressed the backup catcher situation and kidded that he likely would assign the task of finding one to his assistants, Jed Hoyer and Ben Cherington. He didn't rule out Doug Mirabelli or Kevin Cash returning, nor did he say that the backup will be Wakefield's personal catcher. "It's interesting, because I think the industry is looking for catching," Epstein said. "There's that perception out there that we desperately need to find Jason's successor. Personally, I t
  5. I wonder if the writer's strike has something to do with this. Is the Conan tonight a re-run? Perhaps....
  6. Around here, the lights on the house go up the day after Thanksgiving and the tree gets chopped down 1-2 weekends before the 25th. Everything gets put away/recycled Jan. 1. Even this is a little long, but I really like having Christmas lights up on the porch/house and the fake candles in the window. Such a nice vibe if done right.
  7. According to the philzone site, "Jackie Greene backed by P&F" tonight on Conan. Though Conan doesn't list them for tonight's lineup on his site (Sondre Lerche or something is booked). Hmmm....
  8. It was. I still think DM is funny. The football gig blew, but I enjoy his rambles and tangents. Not at the peak of his game these days as he was in the 90s, but still better than most comedians/commentators out there.
  9. Mountain vibes headed east. Difficult situation, I know. Here's to it all panning out in the end, as it always does.
  10. I actually really like them but want to come off as being hip by saying I don't. I have an insatiable need to impress others.
  11. I don't think they're that bad, but they are very generic in sound to these ears. It's no-risk, fluffy, and mundane to me. I think the middle-of-the-road tag fits well on them. They sell a lot of albums because they write safe Pop tunes that are easy to sing along to and appeal to a lot of the Baby Boomers. They're fine musicians with decent vocals/harmonies and some catchy lyrics. Nothing wrong with that, but they grate on my ears none the less.
  12. They were probably all emts or doctors, though. Right?
  13. Proving once again the general populace has poor taste in music.
  14. I almost always side with the old-school philosophies on the game but I think this is could be a good thing. I love the human element of having to live with the umpire's ruling called live but if this is used sparingly I see it as a good thing. Even though the umpires get the call right most of the time and have been pretty good about reversing calls when they know they've erred, why not use the technology in tight games/post-season games/etc. where the right call is crucial to the outcome? Questions about home run/fair-foul/etc. only, though, and at the discretion of the umpiring crew, not
  15. I've been to almost every Rockies home season-opener since 1996 and if memory serves, it's always been on "Opening Day." The real one when most teams open the season, not the Sunday stuff. Almost always great weather, too.
  16. Quit jammin' me. I guess I brought the gripe part into this.
  17. Yeah, I agreed that it's some of the cell phoners that are annoying, not the phones. And yes, I am just as annoyed by people holding loud conversations in public (depending on the situation/environment, of course). I also don't enjoy mosquitos much. Or surprise enemas. I thought this was a thread to gripe about annoying cell phone users, though. I guess since I don't use one I wouldn't understand the necessity of speaking loudly into one so that everyone within 10 feet can inactiavelyand unwillingly participate in the phone call.
  18. For me it's not the technology aspect at all. Technology is good. I just find people holding loud conversations on the phone in public annoying. I get annoyed having to hear my wife gab to her girl friends at home, let alone being made to listen to a stranger's one-sided conversation in public. A lot of cell phone users seem to cross an etiquette line with their conversations, is all. Cell phones aren't inherently bad. Great for an emergency. Some people even need them to do their jobs effectively. For the most part, though, they're overused and used for trivial purposes.
  19. I was thinking this in the shower this morning. Don't forget about the re-vamped Celtics, either. Could be a huge year for Boston sports (more so than it already is).
