What're you, like 85 years old?

I've been meaning to get into this show. A few friends and brothers have told me how great the show is, I just haven't had time to go back through On Demand and view from the get-go. I don't want to hop in right in the middle. On a similarly related note, I've discovered the Western channel on cable. I never noticed it before until last week. They play some great old oaters. I think I've seen James Garner (Jim Rockford) in at least 3 of 'em in the past week. I wasn't aware he was a huge force in these old western movies. Good stuff. Still waiting for a viewing of Pat Garrett & Billy the

Monster Mash (pssst...: it was a graveyard smash). I always get the heavy fall image from Laminated Cat, too, what with the candy leftover from Halloween and all.
-
Excellent read. I finished it last spring. My first Roth book and very enjoyable. I started this last night. Somebody around here went to a Roger Kahn signing a few months back...

Hey, are you having really awesome, vivid dreams? I did when I was on those things. The best part about kickin' nic.

And he got busted by "The Man." Irony or coincidence? Caliber?

Only a pound and a half of weed? Must've been a short bus trip.

Sweet. I dig the pic. Ooh I shot'cha yeah I know...
-
And why now, sir? Why not cop to it while being chased by the heat in your jalopy while a moll is danglin' fron your arm, I ask?

Hey, friend, it just sounded like half-way between firm and wishy-washy. I guess you could call it "eel-like."
-
But.... is that a firm "no"?

We need you. Hell, I need you. I'm a mess without you. I miss you so damn much. I miss being with you, I miss being near you. I miss your laugh. I miss your scent; I miss your musk. When this all gets sorted out, I think you and me should get an apartment together.

Try the heroin. It's to die for.

Precisely. He's a beer-swillin' maniac who's co-title in the band is something along the lines of "rabble-rouser."

I've seen these cats a bunch (most recently a month or so ago w/Norton, as well....no Mike Watt but a guy from Zappa's band Fareeque and Haque, too) and they do seriously jam. Perkins is the ringleader and they cover a lot of Jazz. Rob Wasserman plays with them intermittently as well. Good to see Nels with them again. He plays on their Lp and sits in when he can. Enjoy.

And promptly divorce him when his numbers hit the Mendoza line.

Marriage is temporary. Baseball is permanent. Yeesh, man.

Nobody likes a quitter. Quitters never win, and winners never quit.

Caliber: Is it true that Betty White used a stunt double on The Golden Girls?

"Isn't that something? I'm on to cigars now. I'm on to a five-year plan. I eliminated cigarettes, then I go to cigars, then I go to pipes, then I go to chewing tobacco, then I'm on to that nicotine gum." The patch worked really well for me, as did a drug called Wellbutrin. I believe it's an anti-depressant but has been known to help in quitting smoking. Perscription only, though. I tried the gum years ago and it did nothing for me. It mmay be better these days. Also, I heard talk last spring of a pill in the works that supposedly has a high success rate amongst users in nipping the cravings

I've been good, and I've been good for nothing I had it bad for something seems like a long time ago And the dirt beneath my nails is not from some field of flowers Sown by the April showers and what they may or may not bring I always get lucky in the spring I have been good for nothing Loose lips are bound to sink ships And many times I've watched my own self drown Clinging fast to my lucidity Like a life raft that's always sinking down One big drink and then another Pull my head down far beneath the waves Where I'm living like a mermaid decked in stolen jewels From the drowning men I've

On the contrary, I always believed it was a way to thank the audience for their applause. This isn't related to strictly rock concerts, but orchestral/symphony shows, as well. I always like the two-set shows. A nice hour plus for the first set, a nice 30-45 minute break in between to beer-up, bathroom break, chat, whatever, followed by the lengthier 1-2 hour second set. The encore being the "thanks" from the band to the crowd fot their participation/applause.
