  1. Well, there are a few games left to play. Roster expansion starts today, too. Ortiz is slated to be back in the line up as early as tomorrow. Varitek soon. Wakefield soon. Manny soon. Although the team has obviously struggled mightily the past month (injuries and bullpen woes) I see no reason the Sox can't make up some lost ground from their worst slump in the last 2 years. They certainly don't look like post-season contenders at this point, but I'm a believer that things can turn around rather quickly in baseball. I'd like to see the Sox at least make up enough ground to get the Wildcard
  2. As well as the fact that Wells was actually pitching pretty decent his last few starts and one of the few bright spots (unfortunately) in the starting rotation.
  3. Wells has been traded. The team he's been traded to has not been announced. Padres, Dodgers, St.Louis are three strong possibilities. I'd imagine it'll be San DiAgo(a whale's vagina).
  4. Barry Manilow is prolific, as well.
  5. I've heard he doesn't write all his own material. Billy Corgan and the ghost of Kurt Cobain do.
  6. I yelled at Jeff to get up on the stage and play some tunes. And he did. He does whatever I tell him to, apparently.
  7. I wouldn't mind seeing Red Sox ballgirl Kelly Barons play tonight.
  8. Ridiculous. Francona drives the team to a WS Championship his first year in Boston and keeps them well above .500 ball since and he doesn't know what he's doing? Theo is the one who opted not to fully pursue some proven pitching for the season, not Francona. The players are to blame. The pitching has not delivered (Beckett is up/down, besides Papelbon and Lester (and even then.....) the rookies have sucked. The bullpen has been consistently poor the entire season (Foulke?) and Wells and Wakefield have been DL's most of the season. The injuries have buried the Sox. Varitek and Trot Nixon
  9. I read this book to my 5th graders every year. Excellent book, indeed.
  10. I'm not sure how "easy" your basis for the argument would be, but Thile is certainly among the top mandolin players today: David Grisman, Mike Marshall, Michael Kang, and Sam Bush.
  11. Huhn. He seems like a decent enough fella. Isn't there a crime in falsely admitting to a crime and wasting time and taxpayer money? I suppose he may have thought he actually did do it if he's living in fantasyland, but still. He should at least have to do some jail time.
  12. That's prime "bong hits and Price is Right" territory right there.
  13. I saw Sarah play with Darol Anger a few months ago. She's definitely an accomplished artist. Chris is sought after heavily as a studio musician and his live talent can compliment anybody. Im sure all three will be kept busy and will grow as artists in new and varied ways.
  14. I think the point is more about being a band that strays from the norm and takes chances. It's pretty eay to settle in and not take a chance when you're doing the same set every night. And it's really easy to rag on the Dead. That's not critical, that's cliche. .Music is a weird deal. Whether you go to one show or 190 shows shouldn't matter. Nobody wants Hemingway to write Old Man and the Sea twice. Once was good enough. Why should I as a fan want to hear canned music? Because I live in a different city than you hearing the same version in Detoit last night? Horseshit. Shake the shit up. If y
  15. More asinine than bold, really. First of all, JT was slated to play only about 2 months prior to the show. Most tix to the event were already sold before anyone knew he'd even be added to the line-up. Second, it was a festival with a lot of other musicians, not a Jeff Tweedy show. Third, it was outdoors. How well do the voices of the people singing along actually carry to the stage outdoors...? Lastly, it's a very laid back atmosphere. He was the closing act after a long day of music. Maybe folks just wanted to listen?
  16. Either: You Jihad Me at 'Hello' or Steve
  17. I'm presently cooking a 2 1/2 lb. London Broil. Pantless.
  18. Not to mention Elvis Costello, Gene Simmons, and a true legend of country music, the mastermind himself, Mr. Billy Ray Cyrus. Seriously, where would we be without his body of work? I thought so. Anyway, Happy Birthday, man.
  19. Precisely. I don't enjoy beverages served warm, save for tea, coffee, etc. and even then I like it hot. A cold Guinness for me, please. I've been drinking these this summer for the first time and really enjoy them. I went to a nice bar around the corner for the first time last week and they have it on tap. They won me over as a repeat customer with this alone:
