  1. It's easier to think about non-essential albums made by people under 50. For example, Oingo Boingo's Good for Your Soul is really quite the non-essential album to own.
  2. How could any animal with the word "pig" in it not be appealing? It's like mini hot dogs or bacon bits, I'd imagine.
  3. Picked this up last week and started it last night. Entertaining, so far, with a few lol moments. Also reading Aces Back to Back: The History of the Grateful Dead by Scott Allen. IT's a pretty good collective time line of events of the band. Started it very briefly last November but gave it away as a gift.
  4. Got turned on to Elizabeth Cotton (that album, I believe) in the late 80s. What a cool discovery (her being "discovered," that is).
  5. They are also considered a common food source in South America.
  6. They're all multi-millionaires, I'd think. Not sure they'll need a "money-grab" tour down the road. They all seem pretty content in their current musical situations so I could easily see them (BC) as being done.
  7. Just bought tix to see them at a small theater next month doing Nothing's Shocking in it's entirety as well as more.
  8. I ain't got time to reminisce on novelties....
  9. I haven't read the Todd book yet but from what I can gather it's mostly written versions of his spoken stories from shows....
  10. Wonder if stuff got weird around Truckee Lake/Donner Pass....
  11. If they ever play Penn State again they should definitely do "Sandusky".
  12. The party was fine. People staggered in as they see fit. Almost turned the heat on last night due to excessive rains/hail making it, well, cold.
  13. What the hell is with the new album's cover? Creepy. http://www.hindustantimes.com/entertainment/music/u2-unveils-official-cover-art-of-new-album/article1-1269607.aspx
  14. Life's Rich Pageant through Monster (not a huge Automatic or Out of Time guy, but very good albums) is excellent stuff. Life's Rich Pageant and Document both still warm my heart.
  15. Solomon Burke's Don't Give Up On Me and Nashville are two great over-50 albums, as well,
  16. Don't know about "essential," but Kris Kristofferson's This Old Road and Ramblin' Jack Elliott's I Stand Alone are both excellent.
  17. They playing at your men's bathhouse?
  18. I was there. I remember my Biology teacher getting down a few seats away from me to that Other One..... Funny 'cause my first show (also New Haven but 5.11.81) was being played on gdradio.net during my lunch/planning yesterday....
  19. Soon (tomorrow) I will be attempting to toss my wife a surprise 35th bday party. She mentioned a few weeks back that she might like one but I believe forgot about it as she likely doesn't think I have the capacity to actually pull it off. The chick that was going to take her out for a few hours tomorrow so I can clean and set up can no longer do it and I'm strapped for an alternative ruse to get her out of the house for a few hours. So, I likely will just allow people to gradually show up at the designated pre-"surprise" time, thus proving that I, indeed, do not possess the capacity to pull
  20. Sooooo much easier to buy it pre-made at a liquor store.
  21. Try some Larry Brown. The Rabbit Factory, Big Bad Love, or Fay, to start.
