ESPN reports that Favre is considering taking the $20M to stay retired even though he still wants to play. Just make a decision. Seriously. -
Yeah, it seems to me Torre's actually a pretty relaxed dude.

Fucking awesome.

Because all the "new oil" from drilling that is supposed to end up in our cars will end up not in our cars and the oil coffers will be more thickly lined.

Isn't his salary for the rest of the year part of his guaranteed money clause (so the Sox have to pay)? I know they had options on him for the next two years. I woke up past the deadline, and Christ was I surprised.

Well, I think Obama would be doing a world of good pointing out that offshore drilling =/= lower gas prices rather than retaliating in some namby-pamby way. Point out the obvious, because that's the only thing the public will be able to understand.

I must be the only person who has reservations about these. It'll probably clear up soon, but for now I'm slightly unimpressed.

Griffey will probably go, but I heard that he did have the original intention of finishing with the Mariners or the Reds, where he started. Of course, I think the allure of winning a ring is too much to override that notion and he'll leave. Of course, he may want to go to the Mariners after that...

I'm pissed. We lose an 8-1 lead? For reals? Come on.

That's probably the general consensus around here, actually.

Currently the BoSox hold the Wild Card slot, and the closest to the WC spot after them are the Twins. Unless the BoSox implode or the Twins suddenly bust out crazy stuff (in which case they'd just deseat the CWS, and the CWS would actually still be behind the BoSox in the WC race), it's not going to change. And I really don't expect it to, no matter how much I hope the Indians will actually get out of last place in the AL Central.

True, but for all the regular season woes, they will likely somehow do something entirely stupid-insane during the postseason. Because that's how expensive teams work.

Tex-Mex to the Angels, which now makes them a frontrunner for all the beans. I am going to go ahead and predict an Angels-Cubs Series, though potential spoilers are the BoSox (as fuckin' usual), the Rays, and the Brewers.
