  1. Rap, too. He would've invented punk, but the Beatles stole that when he was still a folkie. I also agree with LouieB, Brian Wilson is a phenomenal songwriter, he just doesn't bother with the whole serious bit of songwriting, and his gift for melody and harmony is on par (possibly better) than Paul McCartney's.
  2. You heard it here first: Lakers in 7 over Spurs Pistons in 6 over Celtics Lakers in 7 over Pistons "Can't Stop the Kobe"
  3. It really can't come fast enough.
  4. How much of a dick was Paul McCartney to not let Billy Preston into the band?
  5. To be technical, Lennon's part actually was from his song, "Everybody Had A Hard Year," which got sandwiched in I've Got A Feeling, for one reason or another during the sessions. So technically, it's not part of the song. Regardless, it really is one of the lesser of the Beatles catalog, which isn't saying how any other artist should really sell their soul to put it in their catalog.
  6. That is the most reckless statement I have ever heard. Regardless, you picked one of the more average Dylan songs to pit against an above-average Tweedy song. To make it fair, how about Visions of Johanna vs. Reservations? No, it ain't a contest.
  7. Yeah, he went from "I get a 1/2 pick!" to "Fuck this shit, I don't care about sick kids anymore." It was sad. And if the Spurs squander the only chance they'll get where Kobe is under (what looks to be) 25-30 points, the Spurs are seriously going to lose this series hardcore.
  8. I feel legitimately bad for Chelsea, they blew their opportunity to seal that game up.
  9. Of course it's the luck of the draw/ping pong ball drops, but honestly the Bulls shouldn't have been ANYWHERE near the Top 3, let alone the top pick. I've been a Bulls guy since I was a kid, but for real. Plus, of all the teams, I really think the Timberwolves would have benefited the most from a 1-2 slot.
  10. If you really want a harp+guitar master, look no further than Bob Dylan. A lot of players now distill their harp-playing, one way or another, from Dylan, such as Springsteen (e.g. the whole Nebraska album), and Tweedy too. Of course, if you want where Dylan got his chops from, you're probably going to have to look very, very far back into blues harp players. I have a set of 7 harps, when I do Tweedy stuff I try to avoid being exact, but to just get the whole picture, I guess.
  11. Almost almost almost. It is, in fact, #2. Followed by "Komm, Gib Mir Deine Hand," then "Sie Liebt Dich." They're harder to understand in German, which is why they closely follow at #3 and #4.
  12. The Bulls got so damn lucky, and Minnesota got shafted out of its mind. I can't see why the Bulls would take Rose, because Beasely really has the goods that the Bulls lack. And, the Heat would fit Rose well, I think. And plus, I would hate to see a player like Rose be on the same team as the most ugly man on earth.
  13. George and Paul are tied in overall ability in my eyes, but I have a soft spot in my heart for My Sweet Lord, All Things Must Pass, Something, and I could go on and on, but I won't so I'm voting for George. Even outside of pure songwriting and etc. George was the least trite of the bunch (at least in terms of primary songwriters...but in general Ringo was the most chill), so I voted for him. But really each was so individualized in their songwriting (i.e. Paul is basically the best melodist ever), it's impossible to get a perfect picture until you get all of them combined (specifically talk
  14. Is this as good as SMiLE? That is the pressing question.
  15. @the letter: If you're going to call someone the antichrist, at least spell it right. "Anticrist"? For fucking real, man...go back to elementary school. by "the size of Iran's threat," they're really not talking about nuclear weapons, but something else Iran has...
  16. That's a good looker. Just as a suggestion, on your solo for your sample track, you can probably use more overdrive/distortion there...but it's your preference, it's good tone as it is, but I guess I would use a little more.
  17. Haven't tried brass myself, but I would imagine the change would be equivalent from switching to brass saddles on a Telecaster: a much brighter sound. I'm not sure on the sustain, but I would imagine that you would get more sustain with brass pins than with ebony/plastic, etc.
  18. Without Bill as president, Hillary wouldn't have exercised her Ladyship with the health care reform. Without that I doubt she would have run for Senator and thus President.
  19. 1. Highway 61 Revisited 2. Blonde On Blonde 3. Blood On The Tracks Then it gets really muddy from there.
  20. Yeah, they're playing right on campus here in a few but I really don't like Blind Melon at all.
  21. When you're the only artist that can even come close to touching the legacy that the Beatles have left us, you know that there really is no contest. I love Tweedy to pieces, but this is more than an unfair matchup.
  22. I agree on the whole. I've listened through it a few times. I can recognize its greatness as an album but on the whole it just sounds like...noise. There's really not a lot of substance to the noise, in my opinion. I'm not sure if I will ever get into it fully.
  23. Apparently Niko Bellic is what is wrong with this generation. Riiiiiiiiiight.
