  1. I'm pretty sure that author has the same name as the chief of staff from the last season of 24.
  2. Passion does not equal obsession. I think I can still be very passionate about music. It's also a quantity/quality thing. If I devote the time to music that I used to, that means less quality time w/ my kids. At least until they're old enough to appreciate it on a different level. I used to decide to drive 3 hours to see a band at the drop of a hat. Can't really do that anymore. Sorry that makes you sad.
  3. So Sage Rosenfels starts for the Vikings tonight, playing against (I assume) the Colts' 1st team defense and puts up a rating of 95.4. Then Tarvaris Jackson comes in, maybe playing against 1st or 2nd team defense and puts up a rating of 53.5. Rosenfels should certainly have the nod for the starting position right now. edit: Jackson was playing mostly w/ 2nd team offense and will probably start the next game w/ the 1st team. Will reserve judgment for now.
  4. One more (biblical) thought I have on this topic comes from the Apostle Paul. I don't think you have to be a Christian or a believer to agree with the sentiment in this verse: 1 Corinthians 13:11
  5. Prince doesn't much care for his dad, does he?
  6. Jayhawks - Miss (Victoria) Williams Guitar Thelonious Monk - In Walked Bud (Powell) Sir Duke - Stevie Wonder
  7. I agree a lot with the 1st sentiment in this thread for a couple of reasons: 1) Info. overload. There's so much music available through torrents, iTunes, my convenient public library, etc. that I don't have time to fully absorb it. 2) Becoming a parent. I have tried to expose my kids to a lot of music I like and to kids' music we can all like, so I don't get a chance to listen to really loud, profane, dissonant, or "boring" stuff much anymore. When a new CD that I'm really excited about (Wilco, Old 97s) comes out, I can't listen to it 5 times straight while devouring the liner notes
  8. A bit too literal. My point is that the cream of the crop in the AFC is vastly superior to the top NFC teams.
  9. I agree, unless Hester can become a decent receiver. Then they can make it to the Super Bowl and lose to any one of a dozen AFC teams.
  10. As a Vikings fan, I hope so, but I think they'll improve. I see the NFC North shaping up like this: Bears Packers Vikings Lions
  11. That's funny, but is it authentic?
  12. I like everything I see here except that Falcons in the Super Bowl, maybe even the NFC Championship game. They're on the rise, but we'll see.
  13. So, can any team from the NFC challenge the top tier AFC teams?? I think not. Patriots, Steelers, Chargers are my pre-season AFC championship picks. NFC could be just about anyone, the Giants if I were forced to pick. Will Vick land a gig? Should he?
  14. Reviews by Jim DeRogatis and Greg Kot. If this turns up on Dime or BT or some other source, please post!
  15. I agree with pretty much everything you say here, esp. the soundtrack. The song playing in the taxi is from a god awful band called Balaam & the Angel. I think I've referenced my personal disdain for this band on this board before. They opened for Iggy Pop in '88 at the Metro. I'm pretty sure they were hired to open only to piss off the crowd and work up the kind of anger Iggy needs to thrive.
  16. Yeah, I found it under store. Don't do a lot of buying from iTunes, so I didn't bother to check there the 1st time, thanks!!
  17. Anyone know where I can set a preference for iTunes to automatically download album art when I import tracks and/or entire CDs??
  18. Holy crap, I just had a long conversation with a friend about him. RIP.
  19. I saw what I assume was on of Leroy Bach's last shows at the Val Air 9/17/03. Stood on Bach's side of the stage most of the show. He seemed bored most of the time. I was underwhelmed. Not a knock on the man, it was the 1st Wilco show I saw and everyone else was really into it and he wasn't. Guess he knew it was time to go.
  20. That's about right. I had a blast seeing him in concert 23 years ago when I was in HS, but would I buy a CD?? No.
