  1. My feelings too. I think the only way it would work is if you were a rock artist and the song was played at your funeral OR the actual artist who recorded the song played it at your funeral. I was at a funeral a few months ago and someone sang "Amazing Grace" but Michael Boltoned it all up. Many people were moved, and the singer did very well, technically. I was left biting my tongue to avoid laughing at the overwrought experience.
  2. Just googled that. I thought I knew Simon & Garfunkel well enough to recognize all their song titles. Guess not.
  3. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/07/06/AR2009070601197_pf.html He may be more responsible than anybody for the escalation of Vietnam, but anyone who has watched Fog of War knows it's a disaster that haunted him the remainder of his years. If you haven't seen that movie, do yourself a favor. It covers much more than Vietnam. Basically the end of WWII through the Cold War. It's an important historical document.
  4. Frost/Nixon. Excellent! Didn't even know Sam Rockwell and Oliver Platt were in it. They usually make anything they're in better.
  5. Borg, Sampras, Federer in a round robin each at their peak using the same equipment. That would be something.
  6. That guy was one tough QB. A shocking, sad loss.
  7. TV Gameshow looks to convert atheists
  8. Benjamin Button. Meh. Some nice moments and I'm not sorry I watched it, but it left me underwhelmed for sure.
  9. Yeah, kinda weird. Eclectic indie artists, MJ and Prince, hmmm...
  10. She will either have a show on FoxNews or run for president. Most likely both.
  11. Good point, re-reading the NYT question, it was a pretty blunt question to ask and maybe deserved that blunt answer.
  12. Pretty blunt answer compared to his interview in Time which I'm sure was posted elsewhere.
  13. It Might Get Loud Starring The Edge, Jack White, Jimmy Page
  14. Glad to see you giving SBS some much needed love here, but better than ST?? Wow! Mine will change because I need to give W(TA) more time to settle in. YHF ST BT SBS AGIB W(TA) AM BTW, all are excellent albums. Well... AM is VERY good.
  15. Just got an e-mail, it's good on Friday only. If you don't get their e-mail coupons they will often honor them if you ask (and belong to their free rewards program).
  16. I like the quote... obviously (even though it stopped being true about 5 minutes after he said it).
  17. Kaelin's Restaurant claims to have invented the cheeseburger and serves pretty good ones. Last time I was there I went to a more upscale restaurant that was something of a Louisville classic. If I recall it was on Bardstown Rd. or in that (cool, old) neighborhood. I thought the name had dog or cow in it, but google hasn't helped me find it. If Churchill Downs is still in season, that's a fun place to people watch. You have all classes represented.
  18. I haven't read the book, but I think it's very courageous to tell a story this honestly that's intended for younger audiences.
  19. I am an SBS defender. I think it's a solid album. I've only listened to W(TA) a handful of times, but I think there's more stylistic diversity than SBS, so I voted W(TA). I'd like to revisit this poll in 3 or 4 months.
  20. Still not fixed. I get weekly new release e-mails from AMG. I actually clicked on both the Paisley and Wilco albums to read their reviews. I read Paisley's then started reading Wilco's (alphabetical order, not importance). I figured it was a bug in the site or my browser!
