  1. Great shirt! My advice is to wrap the shirt up with a "To Glenn" note and about 20 rubber bands, get near the front, throw hard! Good luck.
  2. Probably 50, but mostly on 120 Minutes.
  3. Maybe the most important victory for US men's soccer.
  4. Now I think I now how Pete Townshend felt when he started playing around with synthesizers. That is silly fun!
  5. It's just plain weird to say something like that. Does he imagine an interracial couple discovering the pregnant and thinking, "Oh shit, we're going to have a mulatto baby! We better get an abortion." Nixon was, at times, brilliant, paranoid, and just plain goofy.
  6. I like Glenn's new W(TA) bass drum cover.
  7. Go to the youtube thread and look at him in the "Boxful of Letters" video from Beavis & Butthead. That's young. Also really dug Sirratt's 90s haircut.
  8. I thought your theory would be more along the line of following ones muse no matter how it negatively impacts relationships.
  9. It doesn't seem right that Manny Ramirez is able to play in AAA to prepare for returning to MLB before his 50-game suspension is up. If he needs warm-up let him wait till after he's served his suspension.
  10. Fixed it. Beavis and Butthead always make me laugh.
  11. Obama talks tougher on Iran violence Sounds a little bit like "I'm the decider" to me. Unfortunately, I think the climate in Washington is so poisoned by partisanship that Obama may have already forgotten about making overtures to Republicans. While it's the DC culture to blame more than him personally, choosing Emmanuel for his chief of staff certainly didn't help. Edit: BTW, I fully understand Obama's cautious stand. The more our government supports the protesters, the more they're tied to us. I was just surprised. I think his quote sounds so much like Bush.
  12. On the old interface, there was a button that said something like "see new posts" and it seemed to show 100% of the posts added since my last visit. With the new interface the "view new content" button seems to miss a lot of the posts and I have to navigate through each forum to see what I missed. Anyone else experience this problem?
  13. We've got to be down on the total # of posts per day since the week or so the board was down.
  14. My wife's family is from the Quad Cities, where much of this was filmed. They did some filming very close to my mother-in-law's house, and apparently at her church too. Some of her friends were extras. Can't wait to see it, mostly for the movie itself, not those connections. Oh, by the way, I'm finally watching Ashes of American Flags now.
  15. Sounds like a great idea, heading over to beck.com right now.
  16. I'm really surprised a jury would fine $80,000 per song. I wonder what the demographic make up of that jury was. My guess is avg. age is at least 60.
  17. I appreciate your comments. There is a lot of humor and I appreciate much of the descriptive language. I'm only 100 pages into it, but so far I'd have to disagree with your take that there is rampant racism and religious intolerance. Ishmael's friendship with Queequeg shows he overcomes his prejudices to know him as an individual. Melville's use of the language of the time can't be held to our modern standards. It's like people saying the Adv. of Huck Finn is racist because of the N-word. Speaking on another point, my brother wants the Coen Brothers to make a new Moby-Dick moview.
  18. I took my 8th grade DC trip there this morning. It was so gracious of the museum to open so soon after the tragedy, it's one of the things kids look most forward to seeing there. Lots of patrons were shaking hands and hugging the security and other employees.
  19. No, she likes his live shows, gone w/ me twice. It just hasn't translated to wanting to listen to his CDs.
  20. Just got back from Up. Great, great movie. I liked it better than Wall-E. It's amazing how Pixar can make such a classic story that appeals to children and adults at the same time. Ed Asner did great voice work as did Christopher Plummer and the boy who did Russell's voice. The Partly Cloudy short was charming as well. The only negatives were the scary (to my 4-year-olds) previews for Harry Potter and Transformers and my son getting greasy fingerprints on the 3D glasses and wanting to trade with me.
  21. Trading Places is somewhat close to a comedy classic. Not Fletch, Animal House, etc., but not far. Brewster's Millions is good in a sort of rainy day, it's on TBS, kind of way. Meaning not very good at all.
