  1. I love the Wilco albums with Bennett. I've only heard snippets of what he's done since, and it didn't do anything for me. I have nothing against the guy. I thought he came off as a tool in IATTBYH, but lots of great artists are tools, and that movie clearly had a point of view in favor of Tweedy. I love the scene in Man in the Sand when Bennett jokes about a feud between Bragg & Tweedy, almost foreshadowing.
  2. Probably right, home field is huge. Love the Jules, Love the Twins more, sorry.
  3. Costello's "Tramp the Dirt Down" may be the most visceral hate aimed at a single politician (Margaret Thatcher) in song.
  4. I got your point. I don't know which team faces the most pressure, the Sox playing their 3rd must-win in a row, or the Twins trying to beat them for the 4th straight time, this time in Chicago. Home field advantage definitely for the White Sox.
  5. Ummm... I always liked the Killer Bees bit. (Trying to get back on topic.)
  6. When and where is the Detroit / White Sox game tomorrow? Go Tigers!
  7. I'd like you to define anti-Christian and/or give some specific examples, especially from teachers. I am a social studies teacher, so we focus on religion a lot. 99% of the time, my students and parents are open and appreciative about studying comparative religions. There have been exceptions. My favorite was when a parent called my principal furious because I explained that most historians now estimate the birth of Jesus (I know, I know, if it happened at all) at about 6 B.C. How dare I question what the Bible says about when Jesus was born! Ummm... the Bible doesn't really say a year.
  8. I'm new here, didn't know Natalie, but I am very touched by the way all of you knew her have shared your memories and your mourning. Peace to all of you.
  9. Do either the Twins or the White Sox want the playoffs? Sure can't tell last 2 days. I blamed last night's Twins loss on coming off the emotional high of the White Sox sweep / hangovers from celebrating. But today? Jeez!
  10. One of the coolest things about Newman was his longtime marriage to Joanne Woodward. How many Hollywood couples last that long?
  11. I guess, if confined to pick one, it'd be Vampire Weekend.
  12. The Twins can have letdowns after emotional highs like last night. Their celebration looked like the won the World Series. KC isn't going to roll over for us, unfortunately. Go Indians!!
  13. I really like the idea of lonely 1 for this type of assignment.
  14. Owning both this and the Charlie Parker CD made me want to learn more about Massey Hall. Looks like a pretty cool venue.
