  1. While I believe such a study actually exists, I'd like to see the link. It would support my completely layman theory. Homophobes always talk about homosexuality being a choice. Clearly, these people must have personally made a choice themselves. I think there's a spectrum of sexual preference and most people lean heterosexual. Homophobes who are heterosexual (even late at night, when they think no one else is watching, Sen. Craig) probably have chosen heterosexuality.
  2. Starting getting vertigo after a minute or so and quit.
  3. That's kind of where I am on this thing. In general, I'm a free marketer, but I'm not naive enough to believe in a pure free market. My sense is that CEOs in all businesses have become so obsessed w/ the quarterly, monthly, or weekly profit reports that no one is ever thinking long term. Because of this politicians in DC may have to step in to dome some handholding, but I'm not sure they're any better suited. I know I haven't been this worried about the world economic situation in my life, except for maybe about 2 weeks in the middle of September, 2001.
  4. I noticed just before (that's my story, and I'm sticking to it) the laughter.
  5. The last verse of Monkey Wrench wins for longest, sustained, tuneful, understandable scream in rock history.
  6. I totally understand that sentiment. At least they have a good chance for the wild card if that don't win the division. The Twins have tanked w/ no safety net.
  7. Oops. I looked at our next opponent, not the date. Thanks! I assume you're a White Sox fan. I really thought Carlos Quentin's bone-headed stunt would end up paying dividends for the Twins, but they certainly haven't taken advantage.
  8. Now to teams who have a chance to make the playoffs. The Twins & White Sox have a huge series indoors starting today. The Twins will need to sweep to have any chance. They've stepped up before against the Sox. It'll be hard to do w/o an emotional leader like Hunter.
  9. 8 sacks for Philly? After the way the Eagles D played against Dallas last week, I'd be worried about the Steelers' offensive line.
  10. I hate the Yankees, but respect the legacy that Yankee Stadium represents to the game of baseball. RIP, house that Harry Frazee built.
  11. Tim Russert is smiling somewhere. Glad my guys finally got a win today. It's been troubling. It seems since Childress (offensive genius, supposedly) came aboard, the Vikings only win when their defense scores. It was a great defensive score today.
  12. Just finished watching Neil Young's Farm Aid set. He closed w/ "A Day in the Life". Well done, sir! Ch. 334 on DirecTV is showing it live an rerunning it all weekend.
  13. I hope you've discovered Ben Webster if you like that kind of sound. He used to play w/ Ellington. I have 2 of his own albums featuring Oscar Peterson on piano: Soulville, and Ben Webster meets Oscar Peterson. Both are great.
  14. Funny. Not as funny as I was hoping. Eddie Vedder puts in one of the best cameos since Brett Favre in There's Something About Mary.
  15. 2 things I like about your post. "Recognize myself in others". I think that's what drove me the most to Bob Mould in the late 80s early 90s. Alslo, I've been listening to "Here Comes the Sun" about every other day because I put it on a mix for my kids. The handclaps in that are great.
