5 freakin' field goals, up 15-0 over Indy and we still lose 18-15.

Me too, sorry to all who knew and respected this man and/or his work. Esp. jnick

Charlie Louvin is opening some dates, but I don't think DM. In other 97's news they had a great appearance on World Cafe this week. These guys are huge NPR darlings, that's how I discovered them 7 years ago and they've probably had 5 appearances on NPR since their latest album came out.

Appreciated, as far as I know my brother is riding it out.

John Ellis - One Foot In the Swamp A saxophonist who used to play with jazz guitarist, Charlie Hunter. This is a fine CD!

20 years old?? Wow!

If we factor in length of post, he's probably contributed more than anyone.

I told my brother in Houston that I hope Ike treats him better than he treated Tina.

What's the price of gas where you are?
uncool2pillow replied to Twisted Acres's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Around $3.34 in Des Moines. It's amazing the way the Republicans have managed to corner the commodities market. Well done, Senator McCain and Governor Palin. -

Gettysburg, and to an extent Pearl Harbor, are different because you won't see loved ones mourning there. I've been to the Vietnam Memorial in DC many times. I don't take pictures there for the same reason. I can understand the motive to take your own pictures, but I really sympathize with MattZ's point of view.

Thanks for sharing. I appreciated the whole post. Knowing people who've done this, I can really feel for you and all NYC'ers. It's very crass in a way the people who do it just don't get. One person I know went to NYC in either late '01 or early '02 and came back with probably $500 worth of "9/11 souvenirs". Most of it looks like stuff bought from street vendors. She still has it in her classroom. If I ever get to NYC, I will visit ground zero and pay my respects; but that is all. Edit: By the way, my lessons have gone well today. We'll continue tomorrow. Way too complicated for

Amen to that!

I can't imagine any teacher trying to go on with tests or anything else like that!

I will spend tomorrow teaching 7th graders about the 9/11 attacks, the roots of terrorism, and the aftermath of those attacks. These kids were in kindergarten when the attacks happened. Responsible parents and teachers sheltered them from the horrors of that day. But now, the gap between what the know about the world and what they need to know being 5 or 6 years away from adulthood is frightening. Hopefully, I'm closing that gap. Anyone who lost loved ones seven years ago or in Afghanistan or Iraq, my heart goes out to you!

Peter Buck's Rickenbacker of 26 years STOLEN!

Maybe it's the same bastard who stole Mike Watt's bass. -
Thanks for posting. Reading about his old NBC bits got me laughing. Damn, him doing Marlon Brando and the banana dance is enough to make me wet myself.
