  1. I hope you're right. I'm still a registered Republican. But over the last 20 years, I've moved to the left on a lot of issues (mostly doing with issues of personal freedom) and the party has veered incredibly far to the right. I don't agree with Christie on everything, but he reminds me of why I used to be kind of proud to be a Republican.
  2. Unfortunately, I don't see Christie getting the nomination. First, there's the weight issue. I may be wrong, but I don't think America wants a fat president. Second, though he speaks loudly and plainly, he's a moderate and he'll compromise. Also, he and made friends with Obama during Sandy. The lunatic fringe (which isn't even the fringe anymore) of my party won't tolerate that. It's too bad. I think Clinton and Christie would have a loud, but ultimately honest and respectful, campaign.
  3. I will watch this show someday. Have missed out so far. For those who are fans, you might be interested in this link: http://www.earwolf.com/episode/vince-gilligan/ Vince Gilligan was the latest guest on the Jeff Garlin podcast. I became a big fan after Tweedy's appearance.
  4. I love the movie. Started listening to the commentary, which I rarely do, but thought it would be interesting. He came off as such an arrogant "If you don't like my movie, you don't really like the Replacements" prick that I turned it off after
  5. Just in case you thought America had a monopoly on stupid politicians. Aussie politician mistakes Islam for country http://www.cnn.com/2013/08/11/world/australia-politician-blunders/index.html
  6. A colleague had a student use 6969 Morningwood Drive as a fictional address on an assignment once. She saved the assignment.
  7. What if I'm not burned out on talking to people who are not burned out on Wilco?
  8. This is true. Kind of like Quiz Show. Take a historical event and twist it a bit to turn it into a beautiful morality play.
  9. If everything you know about Salieri you learned from Adadeus, then you have more misinformation than information. Having said that, I fucking love Amadeus.
  10. I like the gun discussion, but am glad it's out of the political thread.
  11. Fair enough. BTW, I've got an NRA sticker on one of my vehicles because it was given to us used by my in-laws. My father-in-law is a big enough supporter of theirs that out of respect to him and the gift he gave us, the sticker remains.
  12. I have only known Snodgrass as a surname. What other meaning has it had?
  13. I follow Ryan Adams and tried to figure out why he & Hannity were all up in each other's panties, but couldn't. This is ridiculous.
  14. This is a great show. Reeves is definitely making his style fit with the style of the songs here. If you want a comparison search youtube for anything from Bowie's 50th birthday show and on almost any song you'll -- I think -- get a sense for what I mean. I love his playing, but I didn't need to hear screeching notes on every song.
  15. I can't understand why this thread wasn't locked when I -- quite clearly and concisely -- answered the question in the 2nd post!
  16. I watched a lot of that Bowie 50th birthday thing on youtube within the past week. I got kinda tired of Reeves' sound. I do love that 1st Tin Machine LP. I'm not sure how it would meld w/ the Cure unless he reeled himself in quite a bit. Having said that, a Nels/Reeves pairing would be something.
  17. Hey, NoJ. Today is a very important anniversary, you know.
  18. I think it's pretty clear that this Don Draper fellow is trouble. He broke the board.
  19. For a tailgating event, I can see paying $40. I think that's about right for Chiefs games and the tailgating there is unreal. But for a concert, ridiculous.
