  1. As a lifelong Twins fan and a father of twins, this really makes my smile.
  2. When I saw the Louris/Olson tour, they played at 2-4 songs from Rainy Day Music. Of course, they also played some Olson solo material to even things out. Probably not going to be much Olson solo material on a Jayhawks setlist.
  3. I can't believe we've dedicated a page and a half to this statement.
  4. Guys, Live is playing a FREE CONCERT here in Des Moines tonight for the RAGBRAI riders!!!!
  5. This. It's pretty amazing the conclusions people draw about someone with opposing views.
  6. Because he was the 1st to make a deal. My sense of it as that MLB wants to target him and A Rod because of their stature. The lesser knowns will cave easier after that.
  7. I just heard that. A situation that will not end well.
  8. Article from the Chicago Grid - A very good piece http://www.chicagogrid.com/features/wilcos-jeff-tweedy-learned-grow-start-firing-friends/ My favorite Tweedy quote: "I think about telling my dad, who worked for 46 years on the railroad, ‘Somebody offered me $100,000 to put my song in a movie, and I said no because it’s a stupid movie.’ He would want to kill me... The idea of selling out is only understandable to people of privilege.”
  9. Tennessee has a lot of auto plants, too don't they? They used to build the Saturn there. I think both Honda and Toyota have plants. Ford and Chevy also have plants in Kentucky, I believe. Ford makes a lot of Explorers there and Chevy makes the Corvette, I think.
  10. Not being in Mexico or other countries with lower wages.
  11. I completely understand Louie locking his thread. It was his and he wanted it to have a certain tone, and I respect that. I find the bullshit aspect of VC kind of entertaining. I don't partake in a lot if it, probably some. Anyway it's always good for a laugh, so let the bullshit fly here.
  12. Exactly. It might pay off in the end, but I'm not sure I have the time or energy to invest in that. Hot Wax is a great listen without having to -- you know -- think hard about stuff.
  13. Finally giving this a listen on the Guardian (I think today is it's official release date). There are some great pop moments, but just too much going on. I will listen to Hot Wax may more than this.
  14. This made me giggle https://twitter.com/RexHuppke/status/359323618515234817
  15. The most important point I wanted to convey is that I appreciate your use of facts in your arguments. I don't agree with you all that often, but you are a vigorous defender of your point of view.
  16. Why yes he is, go down to the part labeled 2:45. Hixter can be stubborn and not very open to other points of view, but at least he backs up his assertions with facts. http://blog.al.com/wire/2013/07/zimmermans_criminal_justice_ed.html
  17. Martin was not on trial. No one needs to prove squat about what he did or did not do. Zimmerman's attorneys only needed to cast reasonable doubt on the charges brought against their client. They succeeded with those six jurors.
  18. Or, if it's that much of a burden, just send it to me.
  19. I am interested in the views of people like Charles Barkley, Bill Cosby, and Jimmy Carter who have expressed counter-intuitive opinions. I would find that as interesting as someone like Sean Hannity or George Will condemning the verdict.
  20. I suppose my biggest concern is for the pensions of retired city employees.
  21. I guess that ad campaign failed, a brutal combination of bad economy and bad government.
  22. Did you read the Whitlock piece? That word is just one piece of a hip hop culture that celebrates the young black man as a dangerous, volatile creature to be feared.
