  1. if stereo/mono on the same disc bothers someone enough, they can just burn a seperate CD(s). i'm thinking dollars and cents...
  2. yeah - stereo and mono should have been on the same disc - if they had bonus tracks, i could excuse it, but the docs ain't cuttin' it! all their albums are under 40 mins other than maybe Sgt Pep's, Abbey Road - and of course the White Album.
  3. to someone who's heard Taxmen stereo and mono mixes - is there an extra guitar lead or solo bit on the mono? i remember when a local station had a "Fab Four at 4" thing every day and they played Taxman and i'm pretty sure there were some different bits than the stereo CD version i have.
  4. If someone responded to me on the last page I can't read it - something is messing up my browser causing an error pop-up and won't let me scroll down.
  5. this is one thing that confuses me - Pitchfork sh*ts on them for this, yet embrace any artist that resembles Brian Wilson/Pet Sounds - Panda Bear, Caribou, Elephant 6 when they were doing that. re: Wings - how is Paul's verions of Girlfriend (which he wrote for Michael jackson who did it on Off the Wall)?
  6. i'm not familiar with Paul's work prior Beatles other than Ram and McCartney. how do you rank the Wings albums?
  7. you don't like that stereo version of Taxman - i'm not quite following you. i thought there would be a mono version to compare.
  8. i'm really wondering - has he ever gone this long with no internet contact in the last few years? i haven't thought to check mandy's blog.
  9. it's interesting that no one mentions his Lennon/Donovan style fingerpicking - it's on Mirror for a couple songs (think Dear Prudence).
  10. the releases a few years ago like ON the Beach - they're not going to re-release those are they? i assumed they were remastered at that time - OTB may have never been on CD prior to that, but i'm not a NY afficiando like some of you are.
  11. here's a recent 40 min interview link a DJ sent me (i read about it on his Myspace and then e-mailed the station about it): http://download.yousendit.com/dVlyK0d1K3g5RllLSkE9PQ
  12. http://www.myspace.com/theemittrhodesband i was very surprised to find out that they finally put his 4 solo albums back in print - i think a limited 5,000 printing 2 CD set and also that he is recording new music. i was able to buy the self-titled and Mirror on vinyl pretty cheaply on eBay a few years ago. haven't been able to find the last one recently, but now i'll have the CD.
  13. early Amazon reviewers seem to be happy, but i only saw 2 reviews of Harvest so far.
  14. geoff emerick put out a book not too long ago.
  15. they harvested Harvest yet again? hasn't that already been remastered recently?
  16. the electronic Run, Run, Run might be my fav. it's funny when Nigel hits the mike with a malet. Thorunn Magnusdottir - is this the blonde that is also on The Information DVD?
  17. really? now that is just ridiculous. so i guess that's the format - someone just does some animation with the artwork and pictures from the era and they play sound clips over it? i guess better than nothing, but kinda crappy if it makes a long time fan shell out hoping for new insight - of course, at this point with only 2 living members you can't really expect much'new.' what needed to be done was releasing the unreleased studio recordings - this is the Beatles - they should do 4 disc box sets like Pet Sounds got for each album.
  18. This is in regards to this year's album, Enemy Mine. http://www.jagjaguwar.com/onesheet.php?cat=JAG128 I just picked this up a couple weeks ago. The song "Paper Lace" has been one of those songs I play on repeat over and over. Everything seems to be perfect - the arrangement, lyrics and melody. The way he repeats: "Come run with Jackie, me, and this lady." stuck in my head immediately. I also love the lyrics: "What's in the world? What's in the world? What's in the hearts of pretty girls?" Unfortunately, Sunset Rubdown is not in local stores so I'll be late on that o
  19. yeah, but i think Ringo's drum solo was specifically conceived for stereo. I don't think it was recorded with mono in mind and then panned around to sound cool (like with various sound effects on the album), I think it was actually miked to so you could hear it that way. then again, i have only heard the CD versions so it may sound different if you listen to an original vinyl copy of Abbey Road.
  20. That is right - I just mentioned as an example of what they didn't have - Abbey Road, one of their most popular and swan song. The famous Ringo drum solo wouldn't be as cool in mono(but that album was definitely recorded in Stereo).
  21. didn't know about this...i'll have to see what you're talking about.
  22. they charge more for the mono even though it has less discs (no Abbey Road, Yellow Sub or LiB)?
  23. nice cover. first time i understood the first verse even though i've heard it many times. was that the group where it was a guy and girl that dated? i guess the kid means she's taken. =(
