  1. i got mine at 8:40 am. unfortunately i won't be able to download and listen for probably another 12 hours!!!!
  2. is nude like the orignal "whiter shade of pale" OKC live era version, or the more funky version played live recently?
  3. after this announcement i got HTTT back out. i think it would be considered a lot greater had it not been so bloated. if they edited to a 10 song/40 min or so album, it would have been better received. Myxomatosis still blows me away. i've never heard any recording remotely like that. those synths just rip through the speakers.
  4. i would maybe consider that, but i'll just wait till i get home. hopefully the servers will have cooled down by then. yes, i don't know why anyone would rather get it from another source. there won't be a better source until Dec 3rd at least - unless some unforeseen things occur between now and then.
  5. i finally ordered last night and got my e-mail receipt, but i have not gotten this. anyone good enough with crunching numbers to tell how long it is?
  6. when waste does the ticket thing i believe it's always UK time because it will open in the middle of the night for the US.
  7. In an interview with Stanley Donwood, published by ThisIsLondon.co.uk, he comments on the
  8. Britt looked very nervous to me. i think he messed up his chords and hit the mic with his guitar on Underdog. their performance of Black Like Me on one of the late night shows was great though. i thought Cherry Bomb at least sounded better than the record. i've always liked the song but hate how his voice is distorted on the recording.
  9. a comment on the Electric Warrior Rhino page: "Great cover art. Great to include the missing single B sides from the same year. Sorry, but the rhino remastering can not compete with the original 2001 Tony Visconti remastering."
  10. any idea why they didn't work on it? would you still consider this the one to get even though you don't like how it sounds?
  11. ok. there are at least half a dozen versions of The Slider on Amazon all with varying prices. which is the best version to get?
  12. I loved "Jeepster" off the Death Proof soundtrack. the local Best Buy only had the Electric Warrior remaster. i'm liking it and will definitely look into some more T Rex. what you said above is a little confusing though - why is EW the only one that is truly remastered? is it worth it to go for the imports (if the price difference is not too great)?
  13. after seeing this thread and reading about Daft Punk over the years, i gave in and bought Homework. beforehand i listened to Da Funk on their myspace, watched the song's video and the Around the World Video - which i had seen bits of over the years - and it all seemed pretty promising. i have only listened on the trip home - 45 mins - and it just sounds all too similar. every song - at least it's got to be close - has the quarter note kick drum in it. am i missing the point of the album? will i 'get it' more with more listens? i'll probably not end up playing it much at all.
  14. the brief guitar riff in Myriad Harbor - i feel like i've heard it somewhere........anyone else? no idea where.
  15. after her last solo lp got good press i watched her on one of the late night shows and was not too impressed. i'm learning however that most of the time the sound is not too great on late night shows. for instance, Eisley, a band from around here, had their debut on Conan thurs and there was barely any reverb and usually they have a 'dreamy' reverb-y vocal sound. it seems wilco's sound is always represented well though from what i remember. maybe that has to do with jeff rarely having any effects on his vocals (sans Being There).
  16. that doesn't change the fact that something about it sounds odd. i guess it's just heavily eq'd then. there is quite a 'clean' sound to at least the last two New P records. maybe she's so good - and i like what she said above - that it sounds perfect. i have not heard any non New P's or live stuff by her, so i have no idea.
  17. does her voice sonically sound different on her solo discs? her voice almost sounds synthetic on this album as if it has been altered by autotune or something.
  18. i like it too. i only started with TC and haven't heard the first two, but i don't understand the critics giving Challengers a significantly lower overall rating (10 points lower) than TC (via the metacritic average). so what from the last two records gives me an idea of what the first two records sound like?
  19. have you read the Spin article? it looks like there's a strong possibility it will be their last record. i have read in a Blake interview that there were 25 songs for the record. 11 for UTB, plus 2 b-sides that are out there, leaves 12 more songs.
  20. i would have to hear them in succession. i know the guitar sound is similiar and playing as well, but the guitar playing in Smoke Detektor(sp?) is a lot like George's around Hard Days time - yet no one is saying anything about that (pitchfork did mention it i think). i don't think a similiar riff is damning though. now if the chords underneath and jenny sang the same melody then they'd possibly face trouble - although i don't know that Harrison's widow would pursue THAT song in particular. actually the Beatles have never brought any musical lawsuits (related directly to the music content) a
  21. Silver Lining is single two, with video already circulating. i don't really see how that riff is a rip off My Sweet Lord (which famously got George sued over). sure it has a slide in the notes but it is not exact or anything.
  22. i streamed it on Myspace Friday at work out of curiosity. hated it. monday i was bored and knew that Best Buy was selling it for 7.99, so i decided to give it another chance. for whatever reason i loved it, bought it and am really enjoying it. take it in context of what they were going for. pitchfork doesn't like anything unless they're aping Pet Sounds or Beatles* (believe anytime i read a record review and it mentions Pet Sounds i usually get it and love it) but i think it takes some guts to take on this ground. *although 15 has a nice theremin solo and Smoke Detecktor has a very early B
  23. so there's nothing that just has all his stuff apart from a band - pre flying and post? i wouldn't think there's that much, so why can't they just have a box set of that?
  24. so the second one only takes the 'best' from his solo records? i'm not all about that - i'm an album man
  25. i have never made a personal attack but i have asked you questions to really understand where you are coming from...yet you have neglected them. all this talk of Gram has reminded me that i need to check him out - what is the best way to go? on amazon i see a disc of GP and Grevious and then a couple of compilations/box sets. i am asking sincerely for your opinion here.
