I love the count in on "Not For The Season" from YHF Demos -
Actually, I saw T&S Co. open for the Avetts at the recent show in SD. Good, bu not enough acoustic guitar for my tastes. I caught a M&S song on XM today. Really liked it. Good suggestion. Thanks to all for the rec's.

So I have really been digging The Avett Brothers lately (all the records except I&L&Y). I am interested in finding other artists who have that high energy blend of bluegrass and rock. Where should I be looking? Last.fm suggested Old Crow Medicine Show, Chatham County Line, Yonder Mountain String Band and Deer Tick. I have records from none of these fine artists. Is this a good place to start? Amy suggestions? Recommendations? Thanks in advance.

An entertaining review of this particular song/cover from The Alt Report.

I'd recommend staying the the Third Street Promenade area in Santa Monica. Great location with lots of stuff nearby. For veggie eats, I like VeggieGrill and Native Foods. Two of my favorite low-key vegan restaurants. Not fancy, but good food.

There is a particular moment in the piano solo on "How To Fight Loneliness" - right at the Em / A progression - that has always struck as so beautiful. A tiny little riff on the melody that is just gorgeous. The first chord punch of the end solo of ALTWYS. Rock on. The 'noise' section to quiet section transition in "Via Chicago" "I am so....Out of Tune.... With you" from ST: LitPNW -
Sinks in public restrooms that have the spigot so short that you are forced to rub your hands on the back on the basin. What is the point of washing your hands if you have to rub the same spot as the last 1,000 people? Grrrr....

Love Cats - The Cure. (my favorite Cure tune, BTW). ok, here is mine: "The way is long but the end is near Already the fiesta has begun The face of God will appear With His serpent eyes of obsidian."

This is really kinda sad. I used to be a defender of Gibson. In fact, my 'benchmark' guitar is a J-45RW from a few years back. But it is getting harder and harder to be a supporter of a company like that.

I wrote a mini-review here. Note there are minor spoilers, so be warned...

I highly recommend IJ. I just finished and feel like reading it again already.

I'm feelin' ya. I am this close to pulling the trigger on this 1954 J-45 Only 4k? Why not? -
Just finished: I really enjoyed this one. It did not go where I expected to go. I thought it would be real easy to poke fun and some of the bibles ... shall we say ... shortcomings as a piece of literature/folklore/etc. But instead, Goldstein re-wrote several stories into a darn entertaining and, dare I say it, poignant manner. Sure, there was subtle, dry humor throughout. But he treated the source work with reverence, as well. Highly recommended. The Samson & Delilah story alone is worth it. Just started: I recently finished IJ, and couldn't wait for another DFW. Kinda sad that there

You have to host them on a picture site first. Like imageshackor similar. Congrats on the guitar. I was saving up for a Santa Cruz, but Taylor has tempted me with their TAYLOR 12-FRET-LTD SPRING 2010 LIMITED EDITION

Agreed. Guitars are meant to be played.

I just finished the last of Y: The Last Man . . Really enjoyed this one. Highly recommended for subtle humor, hint of sci-fi/supernatural, ninjas, astronauts, pirates and lesbians. The ending may leave you wanting, but you are meant enjoy the journey.
