My advice? Learn acoustic guitar first. or risk hiding behind amps, distortion pedals, power chords. Get a good all solid wood acoustic guitar. Like a Epi Masterbuilt.

Sounds likea bad tuner - the gears sometimes grind over time. They are not all the same (different pole sizes and associated holes and scew locations). Bring it into a good repari shop and they can put some new ones on for you (they may find something else, too). They are easy to replace youself, as well. Check out www.stewmac.com. Gives good dimensions to help spot the ones you need.

I am actually a bit of a freak. I never play with a pick. I use thumb for bass and index middle and ring to catch various (and often random) strings. I sorta travis pick by default. Works well for solo sunken treasure, et. al.

I really love the solo jeff version of this song. I am trying to get it under my fingers. Is this the best consensus for this? The last fella has it in standard; the first fella in Open G. There are lots of comments in the middle. Does anyone have a definitive version?? Thanks in advance!

I think what Jeff is referring to is this: with a capo at II, then you really are playing those 10-12-10 & 12-12-12 chords at 12-14-12 & 14-14-14. Pretty tough for an acoustic without a cutaway. Therefore, I think Jeff plays it without capo (making the 12 fret do-able). That is the key change: down a full step.
