  1. Yes. Loud. I'm certain I attended louder concerts in my youth, but it was easily the loudest show I've attended in at least 20 years. Tyler Childers was excellent. He had 75 minutes and made the most of it, keeping the banter to a minimum and playing 16 songs. Loved him. Definitely want to see him headline so he can slow it down a bit, plus play a few more. Fantastic band. Sturgill played all of Sound & Fury, then 12 more, mostly from Metamodern... and A Sailors.... He did play Some Days from Hightop Mountain, plus 3 choice covers. He was into putting on a show. I knew he could play gu

I decided on 2 lawn tickets for ATL. I was very pleasantly surprised they were $27.50 each, plus fees. The final price? $112.50. No. Oh, and fuck you.
  3. Sturgill Simpson with Tyler Childers opening. Damn, are we excited!
  4. Trump tweeted insults to Bloomberg about wasting money and called him "Mini Mike". Bloomberg tweeted back Obi-Wan and Darth Vader dueling with light sabers "See you soon, Donald" Lame. You're out of the race, have $60 billion and you're pushing 80. Tweet back "Fuck you, Mushroom Dick". I'm serious. Why does Bloomberg give a shit? It would gain him many new fans.
  5. Nice! The current band is excellent, but imagine if he recruited Mike Heidorn, the Boquists, and Eric Heywood for this.
  6. I apologize for making you think that. I've had a rushed day and am probably feeling a bit inferior. My fault entirely. I agree re Flint. What a gesture that would have been.
  7. Haha! Pardon my laughter. It's just that we both seem to understand the issue and the 11th court makeup, etc., but we are expressing it differently. Regardless of court rulings, any multi-billionaire could make certain Florida felons that want to vote can do so by paying all fines and costs that the legislature requires. It would be a drop in the bucket for them. As soon as the legislature interpreted the meaning of Amendment 4, I said that the uber-wealthy should just pay the fines.
  8. Yes they did. I live in Tampa and am watching closely. The governor is appealing. We'll see what happens. As you said earlier, it's the lower courts that do a large part of the work.
  9. Thank you. That is admirable. If he truly wants to keep Trump from getting elected, then the best use of his fortune would be paying off the fines and other costs of Florida felons so that the can vote in November.
  10. I agree re what were they thinking. Reich is correct, though. If Bloomberg wants to spend hundreds of millions of dollars improving American lives, he's going about in an incredibly selfish and unproductive way. So many direct things he could be doing.
  11. All true regarding the Supreme Court, but it currently would be 5-4 to the left, if you will, if not for Mitch McConnell.
  12. I did not misunderstand.That is why I said what I said.
  13. In my opinion, obviously, your progressive friends are petulant children deserving no respect.. I agree that Sanders and Warren could be seen as too similar for a ticket, but if they're the ticket, then they should get the vote of everyone believing that, above all else, Trump must no longer be president. Anyone recognizing that Trump is a danger to our nation, but still prefers Trump to Sanders, can fuck off.
  14. That may prove to be true, but it's a party primary. If the majority of primary voters want Sanders, he's the nominee. I want Trump gone 3 years ago, but trying to get Democrats to vote for a candidate deemed "most likely to beat Trump" (meaning most likely a Republican will vote for in the general election), is a fool's errand. Just as voters in the general vote for who they want to be president, voters in a primary do the same. "Uh, gee, people are saying that Democrat X is the most electable in the general. I want Trump out, I'll vote for them instead of the candidate I prefer to be preside
  15. Shovels & Rope (last night. I failed in my goal of finally posting in this thread before a show.)

Pit GA for St. Augustine. $200 total including fees. Damn. I wavered for a moment, but went ahead. I know it's the market, but it seems crazy. I paid $60 for 2 w fees a few days ago for Lucero later this month. Wild.

Thanks! Excited about St. Augustine. May,1 2015 seems longer than 5 years ago. WHOOT!
  18. Not saying anything you don’t know, but Jesus H. Christ, you have a hell of an eye. Your concert photos catch the essence of a show. I always enjoy them. Combine them with your writing, and I regret missing a show you reviewed even more than I did prior to your review. Thank you not just for this review, but all that I’ve read and seen.
  19. Regarding that Roth video, if I knew I had less than a year to live, I would seriously consider rushing the stage and bludgeoning him. Regarding your apologies to Aerosmith enthusiasts, I don't want to meet one. I was into them in high school, but post Draw the Line (it had a few good tracks) and "Chip Away the Stone" (I thought it was a great version of a song they didn't write), why anyone would care, other than nostalgia for the old tunes, is beyond me.
  20. If that's what he and his boss agreed to in his contract, then yes. It's sad that these guys, not just Aerosmith, all of these over the hill classic rockers, still need money. Either they blew it all, or they are fucking greedy as hell. "We'll pay you $$$$$$ for a Vegas residency". "Yes, we'll do it, no matter the personal cost or how pathetic we look. Pay me my money down!" Graceless motherfuckers.
  21. I didn't intend to push back. I just meant to have a dialogue. I apologize for offending. Your point is well taken, but until someone starts a Wilco wiki and everything Wilco gets added to it by contributors, this guy's book is it. Also, I'm sure this was a labor of love, but I'm also sure that the main reason he put the labor in was to get paid. I won't be buying it, but I don't begrudge the people that do nor the author for marketing it.
  22. Most , if not all "encyclopedic information" is free, if you want to search for it. If you want it all compiled in one place by someone else's labor, you might have to pay for it.
  23. "When you're back in your old neighborhood..." Yes you did. I read all of your Hip posts prior to my post that you quoted. You spoke about seeing them, how much you liked them, how much you'll miss them, etc. I never said that you, or anyone else, didn't speak about The Tragically Hip on VC. In my post that you quoted as ignoring or forgetting your Hip posts, this is what I said, " Even under the same circumstances as TTH/Gord Downie (thé diagnosis etc.) no existing American band would elicit a response remotely resembling Canada’s reaction to The Hip and Gord. It seems strange to me tha
