  1. I bought 3. One for me, my wife and youngest (30) daughter. Thanks, Donna. PS - Trump is a dick.
  2. All I want for Christmas is my wife that I just met.
  3. The first time I saw Big Audio Dynamite, Mick Jones said, "I don't want no Bon Jovi on my musical pizza!".
  4. He is a douche bag's douche bag. I'm not in favor of ass-kicking, nor have I ever kicked an ass, but, he had to get his ass kicked for that!
  5. Indeed. There are Christian nutters in Israel now actively doing things to bring the prophesied "End Times". A similar fanatic in the White House would be frightening.
  6. Not a Neil Young specific comment, but I am not interested in streaming either. It's frustrating that I can stream most every album ever for free, with ads, or for the price of one downloaded album a month, without ads. But to own a digital copy of a new album costs me $10 or more. I have neglected to buy downloads of several releases because, compared to streaming, it's highway robbery.
  7. A friend shared this old photo of Malcolm and Bon. Thought I'd share.
  8. I assume that you're doing the Golden Circle, so that will include Thingvellir National Park ( go, even if not driving the Golden Circle. It's beautiful, historic and scientific), Geysir and Gullfoss. As far as venturing out further with your extra time, Vik, as you mentioned, would be a great choice. The sea stacks at Reynisdrangur are amazing, plus Mytdalassandur, just east, is worth the time, with black-lava sand. The drive is gorgeous. If you can get as far east as Jokulsarlon, do it. Beautiful drive, but the glacier lagoon shouldn't be missed. Truly awe-inspiring. You should also consi
  9. Al Franken shouldn't resign for these 2 specific instances until Donald Trump resigns for the 16 instances he's accused of and the Access Hollywood tape. Trump was elected President after it all came to light. If Franken survives a Senate probe and re-election in 2020, that should end it. If admitted, long-time sexual predation as a perk of wealth and fame doesn't disqualify you for the presidency, then Franken's behavior doesn't warrant a resignation.
  10. Yes, Thingvellir. Thanks, Tim. So close to Reykjavik, it doesn't aualify as a day trip.
  11. My wife and I spent 16 days in Iceland in June of 2016. I highly recommend going. We rented a camper van and went all aroundthe island. You'll love it. A week, you say? Vik is a good choice. Also, close to Reykjavik is a national park which was the site of the first Alting (I think I spelled correctly...), plus you can see tectonic plates! Very cool. I'm in St. Augustine until Tuesday, but I'll get you the name of the park and a couple other one week recommendations. Cheers
  12. I could be mistaken, but I believe that Donna requested your concept band, not that you "improve" or add to her's. Classic country band, with a punkabilly ethos ala BR5-49. The Hollers (As in Butcher Holler) Lead and background vocals & acoustic guitar: Rafe "Darlin'" Holler, Lead/background vocals & acoustic/electric guitar: Barstow "Slick" Holler, Upright bass: Cletus "Coal Miner" Holler, Drums: Jim Bob "Appalachian Beat" Holler and steel guitar, Dobro, fiddle and mandolin: Forrest "Notch" Holler.
  13. I'm assuming that the above is a copy/paste from some nutter site and the OP didn't make it clear that his/her goal was "look at these shithouse rat crazy fuckers". Otherwise, he/she is, him/her self, bat shit.
  14. I doubt he's playing many songs. I'd guess that the KCRW show, that you can watch on the above link, is a good representation, length-wise. He's a trooper (or is it trouper? Trouper looks odd, but theater troupe? Haha). The, I think, lithium-induced palsy in his left arm is non-stop, he sits and has lyrics in front of him but he sings well and is into it. The shows include a showing of "The Devil and Daniel Johnston", plus other bands/musicians. I'd take 6 songs any day.
  15. Actually, this is likely his last tour. The final show is Saturday night at the Moore Theater in Seattle. I considered flying out, now I'm ruing the decision. You are correct that he announced in the summer that he's retiring from touring, but the final shows were this fall. Thanks for putting my hopes to see him in bold, though.
  16. I searched but did not find a Daniel Johnston topic. What? How can that be? But I digress. Hope you enjoy this as much as I. Damn, I'd love to see him... https://www.kcrw.com/music/shows/morning-becomes-eclectic/daniel-johnston
  17. Thanks, everyone. I appreciate you taking the time. I have a feel for him now and an understanding of the prices. Suites, I understand basic economics, I teach it in high school. Sure, he's going to charge what people will pay, and clearly, they are willing to pay! It just intrigued me that someone I'd never heard of has those ticket prices, I guess I wondered if i was missing out on some great music. If the cheapest Wilco seats were $100, I'd stay home. Interesting.
  18. Thanks. As I said, I haven't heard him, but would it be accurate to say that what Kenny G is to jazz, Joe Bonamassa is to blues? Or is there a better analogy? Crazy that he commands those prices. $100 for the cheapest seat!
  19. I searched both Joe Bonamassa and ticket prices, but found no applicable topic thread. I am no fan. I doubt if I've ever heard him. All I know is that he's a guitar player. I was searching for upcoming concerts in my area and came across Joe Bonamassa playing May 11 and 12 at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, FL. The ticket prices jumped out. Can someone explain them? Tickets are *$250, $206.50, $156.50, $132.50, $106.50, and $96.50. *$250 Dinner Package includes a premium seat and pre-show dinner. Artist does not appear at Dinner.
  20. For those of you that haven't yet read this, it is a brilliant piece. Enjoy. http://bittersoutherner.com/from-the-southern-perspective/music/like-sonny-liston-tom-petty-patterson-hood
  21. Link Wray should be in for 2 reasons. He deserves it as a guitarist with an iconic sound, but also for doing it with one lung, into his 70s.
  22. Agreed. I love The Cure and like some Depeche Mode. I can't think of any Cure tunes that could be mistaken for Depeche Mode.
  23. I say that if you are going to get that upset at not being able to see, then stay home. 12 Wilco shows are more than enough to be aware of the sit v. stand issue and certainly enough to know Jeff Tweedy's feelings on the issue. If they thought that because it was a seated venue, it'd mean a Wilco show where everyone stayed seated, then the previous 11 shows were anomalies, or they weren't paying attention. I understand his inability to stand, but that doesn't mean others won't. As Jeff often says, "It's a rock show". Also, did he ask the "retired couple" if this was their "one date night a y
  24. Nothing but good news. The laws of meteorology, physics and other sciences coincidentally were in our favor. When we got home yesterday we were elated to see that our soon-to-be 90 year old house was unscathed. Our garage apartment tenant said that we lost power for only about 5 minutes. Some relatively small limbs and branches down, but Garrette, our tenant, had kindly piled them up and set them out for the City of Tampa to pick up in advance! Elizabeth and I put all of our front porch furniture and front yard plants, lawn art, etc. back out. We also picked up a lot of Spanish moss. No worrie
