    New Shows

i have a friend who is spending the summer in alaska. i'm so excited that she might get to go to one of those shows!
  2. who me? i wasn't being condescending!
  3. i've used musictoday for lots of presales, mostly wilco and gomez. it's always been my experience that it's 10:00 local time for said venue. however, if there is any confusion, i think the best thing would be to try to buy tickets at the earliest time. if, after a few minutes it's clear that the presale hasn't begun, i would check back later.
  4. rothbury festival is doing the same thing. is this the first year for outside lands? i know it is for rothbury and i think that has something to do with not selling one day tickets...they don't know what the demand would be. if they don't sell to capacity with the weekend passes, then they'll probably consider selling one day tickets.
  5. my "best of" list changes weekly. for right now, it's this: what's the world got in store summer teeth hesitating beauty too far apart sunken treasure the late greats leave me (like you found me) airline to heaven when you wake up feeling old jesus, etc. remember the mountain bed casino queen monday hummingbird war on war what light a magazine called sunset
  6. i LOVE that you used the word costume. i kept saying that during sxsw and my friends didn't quite understand what i meant by it. but they are costumes!!
  7. i've seen them more times than i can recall and they've all been pretty fabulous. i saw them right after ga ga ga ga ga came out and they didn't have a horn section. it sounded weird to hear some of those songs without horns! then, i saw them again a couple of months later and they had the horns. it was freakin' awesome! their shows are always pretty high energy. and they play a fair amount from older albums too which is a big bonus for me. in the last year or so the crowds have gotten kind of "fratty" but it's not like an OAR show or anything it's mostly been my experience that britt
  8. bob marley-legend van morrison-tupelo honey paul simon-graceland gomez-bring it on anything by the band and for wilco shows, i don't think it has to be a show that you went to. i don't necessarily see why it matters if you were there or not.
  9. that no ins and outs thing is ridiculous. i don't think i've ever heard of a festival having that rule.
  10. i guess you don't pick up sarcasm. neato!
  11. well i don't believe i made a personal attack on you, now did i? yeah, pretty sure i didn't. luv. i hope you enjoy trolling the internet, being a tool. i think it's bullshit that you people attack someone for an opinion about a fucking city. ps-how is your hometown of asshole, idaho? i wouldn't know since i'm a native austinite.
  12. i really appreciated jeff giving it all he had last night. and the crowd was amazingly supportive! i really don't know how he did it at all, poor guy
  13. good, thanks for your two cents.
  14. i just fell in the shower...i'm not as pumped about the show now
  15. we just checked into our hotel here in houston. i'm so pumped for the show tonight!!
  16. this cop calls 911 because he thinks he's dying from pot brownies. "i think we're dead. i really do."
  17. same thing happened in october '06 when they played in san antonio. jeff asked if anyone was from austin and practically the whole crowd yelled out that they were. then at the end he said, "have a safe drive home...back to austin." i don't quite understand why they're skipping austin again. i guess it's cause they know that lots of austin fans will drive to houston or san antonio, but the opposite might not be true. i saw them at the verizon theater (what was that '05?) and loved it. that place is pretty cool.
  18. which is very exciting for me! i skipped the dallas show back in september when they played it for the first time in a million years. i was SO upset when i found out! but hopefully they'll play it in houston!
  19. i don't have a superiority complex towards anywhere else in the US. i just hate houston and dallas.
  20. i have peeps there too! but when you live in austin, you have a superiority complex towards other texas cities
  21. neil young is canadian, that hasn't stopped him from getting involved in political goings on in the USA.
  22. man, i haven't been here in forever. after i realized i couldn't make it to the riv shows, i couldn't stand to read this forum! it made me so sad. but i'll be at the houston show. can't wait! i hate houston, but the venue isn't bad and we're staying at a great hotel.
  23. omg i went to the starland ballroom in sayerville back in july and wanted to walk out because it's such a terrible venue. i absolutely hated everything about it. i've noticed some other bands (which i can't recall right now) skipping philly lately too.
  24. to add to what has already been mentioned: -dancing santas -wayne doing a lot of talking -smoke machines
