We shall see.... We discuss these things among a fairly small group of folks who still do buy vinyl records, but the vast majority of people don't even know they are for sale. Needless to say the market for vinyl records has grown substantially in the last 5 or so years with younger people having the time, funds, and interest in buying and listening to them, but as that age group also ages and gets married and has kids (as you have) not to mention, deals with hi fi issues such as turntables that need maintenance, etc, this trend, like every other trend we experience these days will fall off.

I finally got around to listening to that John Carter CD I had to order used from Germany. It was really really good. I don't even have enough time in the rest of my life to listen to all the crap I buy and stack up. LouieB

Maybe because it was getting dumb!! Since every post you have made here is about why you don't have the right to push to the front row!! Let's face it, you have the right to do whatever you can get away with, isn't that the American way?? Now that we have established that being a rude asshole is okay, why should we talk about it anymore? LouieB

Not really.... This does appear to be true... To put a spin on this, I truly believe that after the current vinyl mania dies down (and it will) alot of folks are going to have boxes of LPs in their garage. I totally agree that LPs are fun to play, but they do have significant disadvanages over digital. I have yet to play an LP in my car, where I spend alot of time listening to shit. I am happy that so much is now available again on LP, but not everything is and if a few companies stop making LPs, the market is going to collapse. LouieB

Actually some of the "jared"-inieras are pretty good. But yea, call and see, I am sure they will either tell you or send you some for a price. As long as you brought it up. what did you eat it on?? LouieB

Can I buy them??? LouieB All true.....actually turntables are 100 year old technology...!!(well at least 60 years if you count only LPs.) LouieB

Heron King Blues may be their least accessable album actually. LouieB

True indeed, but we have had threads about this before. If someone thinks that it is okay to push in front of everyone at a GA show, I suppose there is nothing that can disuade them. I understand that if people are just standing around and there is room at the front that people should feel comfortable sliding up front, but if people are pretty close together with little room separating them, it is really pretty rude to shove up to the front, but I have seen it happen lots of time. Now if we want to talk about sex...yea, pages and pages are in order... LouieB

I write the songs that make the whole world sing.... Barry Manlow... Put that on your mix.... LouieB

Apparently it has been covered by some group called Black Star. Good song!! LouieB

A reasonable amount of touching people is fine, pushing in front of them or running up their back is not. Wow, six pages of people not being able to figure out what is rude and what is not. Amazing. LouieB

Can we change the subject for a moment to something more positive?? These shows brought a number of fans to Chicago for the first (or maybe repeat) time. If you have new suggestions on places to stay, eat, drink, expore, etc., please post it in the thread I started a few years back. Folks were telling me about restaurants and places to stay that have not been mentioned before. (For example bbop mentioned a great breakfast place on Taylor St and I have already forgotten the name..!!) Thanks. LouieB "can you see the real me..???"

Let's push this back to the top... I have been listening to Side Tracks in my car. Most of it is pretty good, but some of the cuts are much better than others. All of it is pleasent. None compares to Coltrane's work on Atlantic or Impulse, but most of it is worth the time. All of it fits the mold of the time, blowing sessions which are made or broken by on the spot improvisation which is either inspired or insipid (and you can hear both on these) and standards which are either good or tired, and originals which can either be original or derivative. Again, some of both have caught my ear, w -
I would hope so!! There are elevators. I do believe etc is accessable. LouieB

I will give it a chance...I just never really imagined they could top the sound of the single, which is in fact amazing. Hello!!! Who is this? If I know you well and didn't say I, apologies are in order...!! LouieB

I won't regret spending 2 bucks (plus 2.50 for shipping). I am sure it is a fine album, but the single, which is great, is what they will always be remembered for, not this album, no matter how good it is. LouieB
-
Nope...didn't hear the album, but I do like the song. Despite the album being great they will always be known for that, since it was after all their "hit". To atone for being slightly sarcastic I just purchased the CD for 2 bucks on Amazon... LouieB

Me either...I have faced down teens in my time.... for sure... Must be... Is this the place to remind someone for the umpteenth time that shows didn't used to be like this. They are now because promoters and bands (not Wilco specifically) want to make the most off their performances. Up until a couple decades ago seats in clubs and concert halls were the rule. You were seated and you didn't move. Get there early (or pay whomever was seating you) and you got a better seat. This applied even to shows there you sat on the floor (Amazingrace in Evanston). Even GA shows had seats.

WILCO - 10/19/09 UIC Pavilion, Chicago Night #2
LouieB replied to EatMorePez's topic in After The Show
Are you basing this on the set list or were you there? Just a Kid was brilliant, Hoodoo Voodoo was inspired, I'm always in Love is one of my favorite Wilco songs ever; however the energy and performances in general were better on Monday. Just sayin. LouieB -
