  1. I was given some of this session, but clearly it is not the entire thing, because I don't have most of those titles. Some day it WILL come out, everything does. LouieB
  2. I have absolutely nothing to say about Kiss, but to tell Aman to go back to bed and this way I have responded to all the threads in the top part of this section... Now I am going back to bed. LouieB
  3. Me too....but do I have to?? How is Hank Williams not appreciated? His records probably sell way better than Chuck Berry, who was influenced by country music as well, and who isn't all that well remembered either. Hank is constantly being repackaged. LouieB
  4. I can't wait. I was really disappointed I didn't get tickets and now that I have them I can't sleep. I went back and saw their schedule. It would be fun to follow them around on this, but it ain't gonna happen. They are playing some pretty sweet venues. I offered my extra ticket to my old friend John who turned me on to all kinds of music back in the 70s. He didn't hesitate for a minute. It is certainly the hot ticket in town. LouieB
  5. I more or less agree, having gotten it too... But it is like, do I buy Summerteeth or the collected works of Titanic Love Affair?? Both have Jay Bennett on them. Needless to say, as these disks trickle in and we listen to them it gives us something to talk about other than are the Beatles overrated. LouieB
  6. He's on his way back to the Chicago area too... Been saying his seats start at like 28 bucks...I am sure that is for the nosebleed area. LouieB
  7. Yikes....that is sick...okay...I'll PM you. LouieB
  8. And there is likely to be nothing like them in the future.... (Oh yea...Kanye West..I forgot ) LouieB
  9. Being overwhelmed by jazz is easy, since there is alot of it. Listening to this is fine, but frankly if you are already overhwlemed it would be far better to get the Atlantic box set (way more money, but not that much more...$50 for 7 CDs) or the Impulse studio recordings (quite a bit more, but less than $100 for 8 disks) and give those disks some serious listening. On these 15 disks are some of the best music in history, period. I am not dissing the young John Coltrane and I am certainly not dissing the completists here (I have spent most of my adult life trying to collect every Coltrane
  10. Listening now....great new record. I like this somewhat better than the Roots and Crowns actually. Some of it sounds sort of Wilcoesque (returning the favor after some Wilco sounded Califonic...) (Actually maybe it sounds sort of UTesque if the truth were known.) LouieB
  11. Thanks to VC brother Matt theZ I am going to the Saturday show. Thanks for the heads up. LouieB
  12. No wonder you don't like him. LouieB
  13. Foie gras is too loaded (two ways), both literally and figuratively. LouieB
  14. Squeezing out Sparks, Heat Treatment, Howlin Wind, Stick to Me. His latest stuff on Bloodshot is only for those who like him, but it is good too. Stuff in the middle...not so much. Pretty hit and miss. LouieB
  15. Nearly all kids DO like the Beatles by the time they are 4. I guess not so much for adults. LouieB
  16. There are some not so great Graham Parker albums (although he is someone I like alot), only because he has had a long career and put been through some fallow times. His early and now his late career are quite good. I don't believe the Rumour put out that many albums in total, but I know none are as good as just about any Graham Parker album. (They did a nice job of backing up Garland Jefferys a few decades ago.) LouieB
  17. Was Michael Jackson a musician?? I have ALREADY forgotten. LouieB
  18. Hmmm..this from the same guy who doesn't get the Beatles.... Sure Crazy Horse gives Neil Young a great feel, but the difference between Crazy Horse and CSN or CSNY is that those bands have writing and singing talent. Not so much of that with CH. They do great as Neils Band, isn't that enough?? Clearly they don't have any sort of star power. LouieB
  19. I have one I bought for a buck too and I HAVE listened to it and it wasn't worth the time. And you can't fault them for being great musicians...that's not the point. LouieB
  20. I honestly had no idea they made that many (undistinguished) records. At least they kept at it. LouieB
  21. Without the Beatles there would be no Byrds as great as they are (or Wilco for that matter...) LouieB
  22. There is a reason backup bands rarely make good albums on their own (The Rumour is another example...) Mostly they are just musicians who back someone up, even if they are good, they may not have the ability to create something original and lasting. I suspect it is not Neil who is holding them back one last time. LouieB
  23. you may have hit the nail on the head. How can one NOT like the Beatles??!??!?!? They are the greatest rock group of all time, now and forever.... Perhaps as a mild defense of wild Frank, maybe you had to be there?? I donno. I guess I would ask?? Who else was ever better? LouieB
