Someone at Best Buy must've messed up on the pricing

Did you find another ultra cheap set, or what? How much is this one going for. (Again if you are spending the dough, buy the Atlantic box....) LouieB -

Nope never said this stuff wasn't worth having. These are blowing sessions, so there is bound to be some good stuff here. Just think some is better than others, that's all. I'll stand by my statement that if you want to hear what the fuss is about, it is better to hear Trane as a leader or some of the Miles. LouieB -
According to the website, yes they do. LouieB

I saw Donovan when I was in college at Eastern Michigan University. He was very fun. I have always been a fan. LouieB

I am hoping he doesn't wait THAT long. I think a solo Tweedy album is in order much sooner than that. LouieB

Califone "All My Friends Are Funeral Singers" @ MCA
LouieB replied to Dr. Steve Brule's topic in After The Show
As expected it sounds like Sunday was slightly more together than Saturday, although I am surprised folks left during the film. No one seemed to do that on Saturday. Wow, you really do know Califone's stuff. I can't actually name all the songs. Review in the Trib. LouieB -
Califone "All My Friends Are Funeral Singers" @ MCA

I have been to this theater before, but I had forgotten just how small it is (not tiny). Sitting back is not a problem at all. One last thought on the sound. Califone is a band of nuance; they don't do big showy guitar or other solos so less is definitely more in this case. Separating out the various intruments should be a priority for the sound people. It wasn't bad at the MCA, but it could have been better. The small things matter with this group (lots of percussion and small intrument use). Also I had no idea one of the guys played bass clarinet. Watch for that during the movie (bu -
Now I remember why I was an independent all those years.

Okay, sure....I don't believe you are what you think I said you were. In point of fact when you put it THAT way I totally agree; simple isn't it? I guess we cleared that up. So it was all a mistake; hyperbole. Language does hurt though. It took Elvis Costello years to back out of some mis-statements he made in the heat of an argument. LouieB -

I got mine too...They must have produced way to many of these because I concur the packaging is really nice. It also has extensive notes (a small book) written by Ashley Kahn who wrote an excellent book on the Kind of Blue sessions (which I read and recommend) and a similar book on the Love Supreme sessions (which I didn't.) The notes give details on each album the material is taken from and the circumstances under which each was recorded, including the pros and cons of each. I have three of the LPs this material is taken from, but there is alot more that I don't have, so that is cool. I a -

Don't miss this tour if you can see the movie...(Leo from Detroit was at this show..which was pretty cool.) I attended the first night at the MCA, which played to an absolutely packed house. The MCA was a very good place to see the movie, since the theater is first rate and the sightlines clear. It was also a great place to see the music, which despite everything had a few problems. First off the movie was way better than I imagined it would be. It is experimental, but it also does have a narrative and exellent performances. Small spoiler alert, but I won't give too many details. Basi -

Is ikol the only one here who can speak in hyperbole? I think not. I get my chance too. As a friend of my said last night, now can anyone support the health care system as it is now? Despite ikol becoming a doctor, I suspect he hasn't actually sought treatment in the current system. As one who has and as one who has family members and friends who has, I speak not as a doctor. And since ikol is going to be a doctor I would think he would want some reform to keep him from being weighed down by the massive bureaucracy (not government, but the private sector one....). One short story, -

Not at all...I am nothing like Glenn Beck, but I do get to speak my mind too. Thanks..... I totally understand the argument that the social safety nets are in need of repair because the burden of of the baby boom is going to take a toll on them; that I get more maybe than ikol thinks. Once again, I understand pretty intimately how government works... But somehow other industrialize countries (and some not) have figured out how to get medical care to its citizens, old young and infirmed, without killing them off. The arguments swirling around the health care debate are sickening (liter -
You could be right, but I think George probably figured out how to play harmonica well enough to do that. LouieB

Yea, all those health insurance companies that barely get by really have all our best interests at heart... And as someone who actually works for a government and sees the government in action I know that government can't do it all and I understand the demographics, etc. And yes all these programs could use a good dose of something. Rather than continue this, I hope at some point you get some wisdom with your intelligence and some compassion with the profession you have chosen. Maybe you aren't the heartless bastard you portray yourself as here on the nameless facelss internet, but sugge -
I think there are other threads on this...Analogman wil find them. What do you say to anyone?? How are you doing, nice show, thanks for being here, I dig your music, can you sign my album, come to my house for dinner, marry my daughter.... LouieB

Of course there is a crisis...this is ALL a crisis, but those at your end of the political spectrum have been telling us we can't possibly have (fill in the blank...social security, medicare, medicaid, food stamps, the voting rights act, the civil rights act, gay marriage, a public option, you name it..) since the beginning of time. Don't do anything for anyone, let them do for themselves, let the pull themselves up by their bootstraps, let them die and get out of the way. I understand your postion. This stuff is expensive and upsets the status quo. Kill the boomers, kill the blacks, kill -
Well all I could think of was ADT, the alarm system I have... LouieB

And the story I never tire of telling is Jeff saying to me after the first show, "Just wait six months...". LouieB

What is ADT?? it is early... Nah sorry....The Beatles music is great. The only problem with it is that it is terribly overexposed so that has taken the sheen off it over the years. But clearly people want it or these remasters wouldn't be big news or be selling (not to mention RockBand). I just don't see how one can't like some of the Beatles, since no matter how many times you have heard some of their songs, there are others that are just too good to pass up. I must admit, I sometimes switch off a radio station when they come on, simply because 40 years of hearing them day in and day out
