They will come now or they will come later...really what is the difference? WEA isn't all that concerned with trying to foster good relations with the music buying public anyway.... LouieB

I guess the reissue is all ready out. Might be as good a place to start as any. Used copies of Jimmywine seem pretty available. LouieB

At the time they were still together Jimmywine Majestic was the album people really liked. It has a Stones type feel. Bunny sounds much more like Califone to me. Until it is reissued it is hard to find, whereas Jimmywine is pretty available. They only put out four albums so, not alot to choose from. LouieB

After being reminded that Chicago DOES have a country station, I programmed a preset to US99 and I have been doing some research. While commercial country music does still suck, it does have some elements that are actually kind of interesting. After another week or so giving it some time I will talk about what some of those things are, but I continue to be "impressed" with the content of the lyrics, the fact that the songwriters actually write about something and often it is ordinary life, daily stuff. That is bound to appeal to people who want to hear their lives reflected back to them fro

Did we talk about this? The Bottle Rockets still have day jobs. What is that about? (I will be helping to tape a show of theirs with Whiskey Bender in Champaign the first weekend of May which will be actually sold. I can't wait.) LouieB -

20 bucks? I think I paid a buck a copy. If the guide is saying their are worth a whole lot more (mine aren't pristine I don't think), it seems sort of over blown. Most copies were bought by commie parents for their pink diaper babies. The copies I got were in piles donated to resale shops when those babies probably grew up and became either music fans who forgot who Woody was or capitalists pigs. LouieB

I am particularly interested in what you mean by this. Do the clerks at your local indie record shop try and get you to buy what they think you should buy? If so they are making a big mistake I would think. Why would they do this? Don't they want you to buy what YOU want to buy and stock that? LouieB -

I found an old beat up copy of Broadside Ballads by Pete Seeger way back. Lots of crazy good stuff on Folkways (Almanac Singers, Woody Guthrie, New Lost City Ramblers, etc.) that I have found since then, but also alot of ethomusicologist type stuff as well. Depends on what you like I suppose. LouieB

This article is not about the history of American popular music, it is just about John Mellencamp. If anything it is only about the last 20 years or so and that hardly represents the history of popular music which is now over 100 years old. Actually you are correct. We should stop going to see music that costs more than $30 a show and we shouldn't buy CDs for more than $10 unless we really want to support the artist. Both are possible right now...right now. Just see local bands or ones that come to clubs that don't charge too much and don't buy albums new, buy them used, because there a -
It is not on either of the two releases from his lifetime, so I am not sure where it is from. I had hoped someone would chime in on this. What I saw of Motown night sucked!!!! LouieB
