  2. Hey by the way.........thanks for the Alberta clipper we are enjoying here in the midwest... and...oy vey...why did I give Rosie that Tina Turner live CD with David Bowie.....??? LouieB
  3. Well alright....I have company.... rock and roll.........it was all right......and now The Band.... The Shaggs....crazy!!! LouieB
  4. Starting out with Freakwater....and the Velvet Underground.... LouieB
  5. Yea it sort of does make more sense to BE in Memphis, but Memphis has a bunch of top drawer tourist attractions, which Cleveland doesn't (Cleveland is my old home town.) But yea, I could see the R&R Hall being on the Mississippi River bank (rather than the shore of Lake Erie). That would be pretty cool. LouieB
  6. tough shit I guess....Cleveland needed (and needs) the tourist dollars, which is frankly all this is about, not history or entitlement. LouieB
  7. the Hall of Fame (not the museum attached to it) is kind of a travesty anyway. LouieB
  8. He was good in everything he did, Secret Agent, Escape from Alcatraz, even Columbo. LouieB
  9. Better late than never I guess.... LouieB
  10. while I never saw the entire Firesign Theater, I did see Proctor and Bergman live once. Hysterical. LouieB
  11. Good place but very very pricey. If you know what you want and are willing to play for it is the place to go, but otherwise it sort of is not worth the time. They jumped on the collectors market and continue to ride it. I have not been in years, but I would concure. They have stuff you simply can't find anywhere else in town. Not mainstream stuff though. RegardingSeminary Co-op and 57th Street Books they are two very different stores. Seminary is incredible and may be the best new book store in Chicago. 57 is okay too. Powells in Hyde Park is better than the one on Lincoln (or downtow
  12. Hating the Doors is kind of a tired attitude. Yea, there are aspects of them that can be irritating, but really can't that also be true for any number of other classic rock acts? LouieB
  13. This is Texas I assume. Of course the last I knew was several years ago. LouieB
  14. This is the "land of Lincoln" after all. Powells on Lincoln Ave sort of between Lincoln Park and Lincoln Square is pretty good too. The best bookstores in town are sort of in Hyde Park, not even close to Lincoln anything. Sadly many of the nice used and not used indie stores are gone. There used to be a good one in Lincoln Park near the old Lounge Ax (is it still there??) and Bookworks up by Wrigley Field is also pretty good. Shake Rattle and Read by the Riv is just okay, but maybe worth a trip. Catherine's by Bryn Mawr and Broadway is smallish, but nice. If you want new books, Women and
  15. Interesting book on Muddy is "Can't Be Satisfied". I saw Muddy a couple times at Chicagofest. Fun stuff. LouieB
  16. I suppose if you count multi-night Auditorium shows (and the Vic), they have done many residencies... LouieB
  17. Thanks..I am ready for the real thing, not that streams etc. LouieB
  18. I may have.....I meet alot of people and can't remember everyone. In fact I think I did, now that you mention it. LouieB
  19. I get it now. I don't track the LR shows, so I forgot those were part of the mix. Find some time to take in whatever you can of Chicago while you are here. There is plenty to do indoors; great museums, music clubs, restaurants, stores and theaters. Good luck. Vancouver is cool; but I was only there once. LouieB
  20. I was given his address a few years ago. ARe you in Indiana or did he move? Pinetop is a great ones for sure. One of the last actually. LouieB
  21. When does this thing really hit the stores? Soon I hope. LouieB
  22. I would agree that the usual cycle of new album, tour, more tour and more tour will preclude a residency for awhile. Considering the very rough winter we are having here in Chicago, any thought of standing out this winter chills me to the bone. We just got a foot of snow that is going to be followed by brutal temps. Save us Wilco...save us.... LouieB
  23. I forgot something else I was going to say. I found Blago's home the other day by accident. I sort of knew where it was but had never gone by. There is a really nice bath house called the Paradise at Montrose and Richmond (highly recommend it if you want a great whirlpool, sauna, steam room, etc.) and I went with a bunch friends last week. AFter we got totally cleaned up and were on our way home, we went north on Richmond and a block north of the Paradise is Sunnyside. There on the Northwest corner is Blago's house (with unmarked police car in front), just in case you want to visit where th
  24. I still think about those days, having not hitched in many a decade. It sure was fun, but sure was scary some days. I would love to do it again, but no one does it anymore for the exact reasons you say. I once picked up a guy in Ohio who was absolutely impossible to understand, drove him across Rt. 6 and finally dropped him in Michigan City. I can't say I was sad. It was very weird, but luckily not dangerous as it turned out. I have picked people up in the intervening years and occasionally lectured them on knocking it off, particularly if they were young women. LouieB
