  1. I'm guessing you were still a kid....Biden waited until some people forgot (or never know) and hoped for the best. Still wasn't long enough. LouieB
  2. Biden was never going to be president. He is a long term loser, since he has run a time or two (not sure 1 or 2) before and never made a dent with the electorate. His first big fuck up was plagerizing a speech from a politician in the UK. Other than that I kinda like the guy... LouieB
  3. Ever since the 1940s, Joe Segal has produced jazz shows here in Chicago, much of the time under the moniker the Jazz Showcase. His club has had serveral locations over the years, the first one I went to in the 70s was in the basement of building on Rush Street that had a disco on the first floor. Despite that I saw great stuff there. Then he moved to the Blackstone Hotel on Michigan Avenue, a nice room that functioned as the club for many years. Finally he moved over to Grand Avenue, just north of downtown and had a good run in a room over there until he lost his lease a couple years ago.
  4. I was about to post and ask if someone get laid...finally... LouieB
  5. And he was my age as well..... He was an excellent interviewer that's for sure... LouieB
  6. Well since I figure I am going first...everyone can come try out their songs at my funeral first....see how they sound. Did someone say "Knockin on Heaven's Door"?? LouieB
  7. Yea not going to happen. The VP is going to be some establishment figure, maybe even someone with a military background.... LouieB
  8. From the sound of it at the interviews, SSG rarely plays the US. Apparently they played a bunch of European shows, so you may have to move east and more than 5 hours to see them. I plan to pick up some of the earlier stuff once I listen to the one I have. Also the deluxe package on these is very cool. We actually asked if sometime they would play back to back shows like they did in Europe, but so far they have none planned. As far as John is concerned, Whiskey Bender has nearly two dozen featurettes (or features) on various musians floating around there. John is getting a WB website develo
  9. Sept 25, 2008 World Music Festival 2008 Chicago IL at Millenium Park, Pritzker Pavillion with Mariachi Luz de Luna and Salvador Duran *FREE SHOW* Another reason Chicago is one of the greatest places to be for music...... LouieB
  10. All the advertising he needs is in his name, what else does he need to do?? (His voice also resembles the old man on his better days as well.) LouieB
  11. Let's impeach Bush and Cheney while we are at it. I understand Kucinich gave a great speech last night regarding this. Fuck it that Bush/Cheney is nearly over, let's impeach them once they are out of office if not now. It is possible and would do the US of A a world of good. LouieB
  12. What a sick rumor to start. There are certainly enough sad stories of people with terminal cancer not to start one that isn't true. Looking at his body of work, man..its something else. Hud, Harper, Roy Bean, Torn Curtain, The Hustler, Exodus, Butch Cassidy, The Verdict, Sweet Bird of Youth, on and on, even the sort of sucky stuff is good. Rachel Rachel is a good film he directed. 13. I was thinking over the last few days about all the 21 and over shows I got Rosie into over the years. It would be nice if she made a list for posterity. Actually Rosie and I will STILL be going to shows together, first off because we like pretty much the same kind of music and secondarily (and maybe more important) she has yet to get a drivers license (although I am teaching her to drive....get off the streets) nor does she yet have access to a car. LouieB
  14. Murmur Reckoning Automatic for the People LouieB
  15. I am guessing it is still very much in print (licensed to Koch.) If you Google it there are many outlets selling it, some for even less than $20. LouieB
  16. Who else played? We have tons of great musicians here who should support this. In fact some relatively famous folks teach or taught in the Chicago schools, some music some other stuff. (Things have fallen apart since the days of the Captain Walter Dyett of course....) LouieB
  17. I listened to the Centromatic part and liked it. I have this feeling that I will REALLY like South San Gabriel in general. I had hoped to buy some of their CDs after the interview, but no one was around anylonger to buy them from. Guess I will have to do the internet thing. Do you know John?? I really think John does great work and wish he would get more requests (paying ones) to tape shows so we (John and his crew) could make more of a going concern of WhiskeyBender. I figure we (John mostly...and his crew) are the best video and sound documentarians in Chicago. I know that is kind of bu
  18. Isn't the Wallflowers his group? Few if any of the original members even play on the later releases. That was my point. I suppose it would be like Jeff doing a solo album. LouieB
  19. Well let's hope she actually logs on for a change... The Centromatic show was the last time I had to get her in a club without my help. Not that they question us at Schubas any more, but not having to worry will be nice. (Nels was the last show she couldn't get into even with my help since Martyrs won't even consider under 21ers even with parents.) LouieB
  20. Well heck...find a way to say hello sometime....I had seen Centro only once before and they were better this time than last, even on Saturday night. The M's were fun too. Sadly Sunday was not in the cards. But the interview went great on Sunday afternoon and hopefully in about a month this will be up for everyone to see. LouieB
  21. Can you explain why this is a solo album and not the Wallflowers? Just curious. LouieB
  22. No need to pay for the war NOW, we will all (our children and children's children) be paying for it for the next 50 years. LouieB
