Thank goodness that is over....what a horrid show......good luck to both Davids...not that I care... LouieB

Now we are talking.... LouieB

Yup....it should have been a shoot-out between him and Syesha....she had the voice. LouieB

Sure this is whole thing is cheezy bullshit, but no doubt about it, David Archuleta, young as he is, is a natural. LouieB
-
Okay fine.....but he ain't gonna win......see you tomorrow (not that I plan to watch the final show, but you never know.) LouieB
-
Surely you jest.......Archuleta is the winner by a long shot (despite a kind of cheezy version of Imagine...) LouieB

Always up to me to state the obvious.... LouieB

John Lennon....obviously.... LouieB -
I'm here...never left....I never really intended to come to St. Louis. One of these days, I am going to visit EVERYONE on this fucking board...so look fucking out..... I do Route 66 (55) so much I need to keep going and never come back....(all I have to do is find the time.) Hey man....Jeff actually reads this tripe, so I am not going to dis him....comparing anyone to Dylan is absurd. Without Dylan there would be no Jeff Tweedy. Meanwhile I will never get to meet Bob Dylan (my hero), but Tweedy is a hero of mine too, and I have been lucky enough to speak to him a few times. LouieB

Not bad, but that won't win the day..... The cheezy opening was horrible. Clive Davis?? Andrew Lloyd Weber.....gawd...... Round one....David A.... LouieB

Strangely I have been saying this for years. I like this album, since I had a roommate that had all their albums and we played them alot. But honestly I don't think the re-re-re-issue of this album is warrented (have we included the Love boxset that included the entire thing also??) LouieB

Derek- Thanks for alerting us that this is finally up. I had no idea. Yea..John...another triumph...on to Centromatic. Also there is some Chris Mills footage in the can. (Incidently the new Mills album is super excellent if there is such an expression....) Although the interviews weren't that great, John did an excellent job of pulling out some gems. LouieB -
Very sad day...sadly I believe he is a goner.... LouieB

Child guitar prodigy plays the Beatles

Pretty cute.....kids are such sponges...they can reproduce what they hear so accurately... The Come Together is pretty amazing. Remember if you start early enough and practice for 10,000 hours, you could do this too.... LouieB -
It must be a slow day here....isn't it enough that Wilco plays a whole ton of songs that all sound pretty much different? There is very little of the blues in their music (none if the blues is considered the actual 12 bar blues), but Jeff has always mixed up the structure and sound of his songs so that unlike many other artists (most in fact) each song retains its individuality as a song, rather than as a genre of music; which in Wilco's case is your basic singersongwriterfolkrock. After all the talk here, I did make it to the Bottle Rockets. It seemed to be the place to be for the slightly older rock crowd last night. The BoRox turned in a fine and very loud performance celebrating their 15th anniversary. They played a ton of stuff over a fast two and a half hour set. While many bands would have thrown in the towel in that amount of time (Brian even made a joke about who was no longer around) and under the difficult circumstances with trying to make it in the music business and having some very lean years (Brian is much skinnier now too), they are still around and so

My white Camry is immortalized on Google. It was stolen in March, but there it is, sitting outside my house at 6212 Maplewood in Chicago...sweet... LouieB

Actually Bird Lives is not a bad bio. I enjoyed it and after reading others it doesn't differ that much. I just personally thought the Clint Eastwood movie, despite some typical over acting by Forest Whitiker is not worth the time. Some day someone will make a good movie of Parker's life, since it is cinematic to the max. The Benedetti story is certainly a far cry from the technology we use today when everyone and anyone can get some sort of recording of their favorite artist and post it on the internet within days. Another interesting story of recording is the one that has to do with

That would be Dean Bennedetti. A few years back they found his "wire" recordings and they are all out on Mosaic records. These recordings were thought to lost and finding them was a huge deal. Unlike other Mosaic releases which are printed in like 5000 copies and then go out of print, the stipulation on this set is that they never go out of print. I have never bought them, but I am tempted to do so. They are probably the first instance of a compulsive and seruptious taping of a musician. You are correct they are only Bird's solos, excluding everyone else, so I bet the experience of listeni

Want to see KT Tunstall in Chicago?
LouieB replied to VenusStopsTrain2's topic in Someone Else's Song
I believe I showed up at that show at some point. I forget who I tried to see, although it might have been Michelle Shocked. The BoDeans are a typical XRT band, slightly bland, not too bad. and totally inoffensive. LouieB
