Not a complaint (see other threads for that) but a request

Who is this? I can't tell.. PM me. That would be my suggestion. If Wilco did two sets at the residency and then throw in a cover or two (they pick good ones) for an encore, that would be very cool. You know it is a real encore when the band is so sloppy and crazy they play some shit they have never really played before. LouieB -

Sorry..you missed the point.. I LOVE real encores....when a band is maybe even a little confused or maybe just punts because they have no more material prepared or even plays a song they already played because the audience loves it so much. THAT's a real encore. Wilco is hardly alone on the fake encore thing. I have seen bands in clubs come back for encores where the audience really didn't give a shit if they did or not. Now we ALL care if Wilco comes back, but sometimes it would be nice to cheer so much after a great concert that the band is truly coming back because the vibe is so right -

Okay, so I am a bit tired of Walken too.....(but ultimately it is a tip of the hat to VC...) Nah I listen to plenty of good music, but reading through the top albums of last year in No Depression, there were a number that were plenty okay (I don't hear them all), but not spectacular. Of course I kept talking about how much I liked the new Joe Henry and most people aren't that interested in it. Radiohead certainly got alot of press, but I have never been that impressed with them anyway. LouieB -
Okay, I am getting psyched about the Chicago residency and I am particularly happy that these shows will be without the obligatory opening act. While some openers are great (Califone being my fave) some others are less than exciting or don't translate well into larger venues (Deerhoof comes to mind.) However I have one additional issue, which is not unique to Wilco, but which Wilco could roll back in this situation. Stop the fake encores. Feel free to take a break at the hour point and let the audience talk among ourselves for 15 minutes (we like doing that anyway), but don't act like th

While the words themselves are that exciting to me, the guitar work on it is fantastic....what is not to like about any of this stuff? SBS may not be the most earth shattering album ever made, but not much is these days frankly. I think we are in a bit of a lull musically in general. LouieB -
Haven't been there for years (it has been there for decades...) but it used to be quite good. (Near the site of the St. Valentine's Day Massacre...) LouieB

Well if it took 2 years it was well worth it. Hallelujah is a far better song than I and I. Cohen was a poet before he was a songwriter and clearly he took more time and effort to write than did Dylan (or does). It has been pointed out by Dave Van Ronk that Dylan is sort of a slap dash songwriter, although to be honest he still does just fine. There are at least two (maybe more) excellent live Cohen albums, which are worth seeking out. The years have not been kind to his voice, which was not much of an instrument in the first place (he was lucky to get hooked up with Judy Collins early

The lineup they are promoting seems to be somewhat bluegrassy which could be the reason Jeff was left out. LouieB

Bush's State of the Union Address: The Final Chapter

Thank you for nothin..... I found one of the strangest things of the night was Barak and Teddy hanging around together like pals and poor Hillary sort of sitting there left out. So sure, Teddy is welcome to endorse Barak, but his timing kind of sucked. Even though the campaign has hit some rather large bumps and Hil and Bill have played the race card badly, I hate to think the Dems are doing anything to hurt their chances in the general election. I donno....sadly the guy seems to be barely able to sing any more (not that he ever was a great vocalist anyway).... He put out a bunch of great recordings over the years though.. LouieB

Yea..i remember when this came out but forgot about it during the holidays when I asked for two other boxed sets. Someday.... LouieB

Man that sucks. Kids do get sick, but they should be fine. Somehow they survive all this stuff. Good luck and good vibes. LouieB

I think we are on the same page, both dull and uninspiring seems about right. My brother and law's brother raves about Yoshi's. Good to see George Duke still out there playing. Is he a legend? In some respects I suppose. Just hope that Dr. John is not having a night when he is phoning it in.... LouieB

Hey everyone gets a break, so it sort of IS in a row.....they aren't going anywhere else inbetween. LouieB

Not saying these groups are dull, since the fact that I haven't heard of most of them means little or nothing really. Personally Dr. John sounds like the best time, but probably the most expensive. Yoshi's is supposed to be really nice. The Moody Blues sound dreadful on any number of levels, since I have not been able to stomach them from my days in college when they got played entirely too much at parties (not very exciting parties I might add) and I have seen some of their stuff on PBS that is also not very exciting. Some old bands just need to stay retired, period. Again in terms

Five shows nearly in a row in one town and fans still want MORE??? LouieB

Did you name every act in town or what. I only have comments on these four since the rest don't ring much of a bell... The Moody Blues @ Orpheum - Sounds like a really BAD time to me personally. New York Dolls/We Are The Fury @ Fillmore Okay so only two of the original members are left but you can say you saw them.. Dr John @ Yoshi

Oh yea...for vegaterians/vegans, much closer and much cheaper than some of these other choices is Alice N Friends about a mile and a half or so north on Broadway by Hollywood. I think it is still open. Kind of smallish, but the food is reasonable and Asian. The fake smoked duck is very good. It is a bit strange, but I always have liked the food. OH yea and in regards to White Castle, skip it and tell your friends you had some anyway.... LouieB
