Cleaning a record will certainly help, but just because you can't see sratches doesn't mean there aren't imperfections on a much smaller scale that is affecting how it is playing. Giving examples of this is far to boring. LouieB

Well it certainly is sort of interesting to see Dylan totally undone and Lennon more than a bit irritated by it. (Too bad they aren't playing music, now that would have been something to see over and over.) Having seen it a couple times, I don't really need to see it that often, but I suppose it has some interest, in a kind of weird way. All vinyl records, even brand new ones are going to have surface noise, some more than others. This brings up lots of interesting issues. I have nearly new albums that sound worse than albums from the 50s and 60s that are very used. Sure a better cartridge may make an album sound better than a cheap one, but an album that has surface issues will still have those same issues even with a better cartridge and needle. This is some of the stupidest and most embarrassing footage ever. Dylan should actually put out Eat the Document officially in order to get rid of that stupid add-on. It is embarrassing for him and for poor John Lennon who is trying to remain somewhat dignified. LouieB
