The sound is much better on this webcast than it was last night on the XRT telecast.

Tonight might beat out Monday for best setlist of the week. John sounds so much better today singing today than he did on the AM album cut. His vocal is not nearly as high as on the original. Once they play I Thought I Held You, you might as well kill me. It doesnt get any better than this.

Iam in for Wilco in Houston. I also plan on seeing Centro-Matic and MMJ in Austin the following week for SXSW. Your right, this is looking to be a kick ass week for live music.

So true. Anyone who ever attended Wilco shows prior to circa 2000 will attest to this. But I guess that's the double edge sword that comes with success. But oh how I miss the good old days, and Iam only 31 years old, so that sounds kind of sad.

Not so fast my friend (sorry, I had Lee Corso on the tv in the background) Your exactly right. That is the double edged sword, we are facing. Wilco has outgrown their old gigs. The palladium in Dallas (where they played last month) had to have been the largest SRO venue I have ever attended. One of the employees said it holds over 5000. Expect more venues of this type to be built around the country. They are perfectly suited for todays mid level rock bands (Wilco, Death Cab, Decemberists, Arcade Fire, etc....) Bigger than places like the Fillmore but not nearly as cavernous as an ampithe

I must pick a bone with Tweedy. If he has a problem with seated venues, there is an easy solution. DONT PLAY SEATED VENUES. Iam so thankfull that I have never seen Wilco at a seated theatre. When they first started playing seated shows a couple years back, I was stunned. Fortunately there have been less on this tour than the last. Not sure the reasoning behind the seated shows to begin with. I have seen a lot of rock bands in my days and none is more fun to stand, sway an bop to than Wilco. Now for a solo show, thats another story.

Absolutely. What's even more surprising is how little they play off of SBS. Mostly due to the fact that the songs play out better solo. I love SBS, but had it been arranged differently, say just Jeff with an acoustic and some harmonica it could have been an absolutely brillant album. Shake it off, Side With the Seeds, Hate it Here could easily have been left off or just arranged differently. Impossible Germany had it been on Ghost, would have taken that album to a completely different level. Seeing Jeff solo last year was the highlight for me musically. Unfortunately he only played on

Damn. Wilco is really getting some big name openers. It was not always like this. I saw Andrew Bird at sxsw last year and he was incredible. A friend of mine (more up to date with todays music than myself) said Andrew's set at ACL this year blew away Wilco, The Decemberists, and nearly every one else you can think of. You never want to schedule an opener that could take away from the main act. Tells you how confident our little Tweedy has become. Not that any band out there could blow Wilco out of the water, but Iam biased so you never know.

You lucky SOB!!!! Would love to hear a copy of that show. Had no idea they were going to be performing in lieu of Wilco on that tour. Great story!!!!

Best poster yet. I hate to sound selfish, but I was a little upset that they played It's Just That Simple again. I guess I cant brag about being at the only show in which they played it in like 12 years.

Dont get me wrong, I love hearing Spider's live. I just believe that it is better placed at the end of the first set. It really opens the door for the encores by leaving the fans wanting more. That and I love hearing a final encore with nothing but old school Wilco (maybe some late era Tupelo thrown in) that leaves me going home feeling sweaty and completely out of breath.

Glad to see you guys checked out the Hole in The Wall. Like I mentioned in an earlier thread, it really is the perfect place to run into some of the artists taping across the street. Too bad Jeff is off the sauce, cause you coulda been buying him shots at the bar. I spent many a day in that bar while going to school across the street. Those were some of the best days of my life.

If they had replaced Spiders with New Madrid or Box Full of Letters or even Monday, you might be talking about the greatest Wilco encore EVER. This leg of the tour is absolutely incredible. I pitty the fool who doesnt check them out on this upcoming leg of their tour.

I have partial versions of both shows on cd. I bought as a bootleg (yeah I know, but this was way before internet file sharing) many years ago. Those were some good times, indeedy. I do miss Jay B. but you cant deny that this current Wilco lineup is more polished than ever. I am one of those rare few who actually prefer Jay B. to Nels. No knock on Nels, he is an incredible player. My only fear is that the jazz guitar sound could get stale after some time. Did they ever play any of the same songs more than once? It is not unheard of for a band to play a particular song a few times, in hopes of nailing down the perfect version for broadcast. I know Son Volt played Drown three times when they did their show in '97.

The wife and I purchased VIP passes on Sunday for dirt cheap from an ad on craigslist. I have had my issues with the festival in the past, but will this is without a doubt the way to go. We ended up enjoying so much of the free beer, vodka and food that we barely even left our perch underneath a large oak tree to intermingle with the hordes of hot, sweaty patrons in the "cheap seats."
