I wasn't really paying attention (I hate Blake and can't stand Tim McGraw), but when he got to the chorus I started paying attention. I love Ryan Adam's (original) version of this song. I had no idea Tim McGraw covered it. I also thought it was terrible that Ryan got no mention either the night of the performance or on the results show.

Yeah, I might have cared seven or eight years ago. I'll still check it out, though.

I completely agree. Wolf Trap is a great place to see an outdoor show. I've only been to Merriweather once and I was less than impressed.

There was at least one other post on his myspace account that has since been erased that made it sound like it wasn't his choice. Something about how he would change it if he could, but he can't. That combined with the picture he had up for about 48 hours (the one of him looking at the camera, smoking the cigarette, holding up the advert for the new album, and flicking off the camera) made it look like he wasn't amicable on his side. But then he took out that post, put up a new picture, put up a new post where he talked about being excited about what the future holds. It definitely changed the

Why the hostility towards Jason? So his stuff on ABAAC wasn't his best--it wasn't for anyone in the band. He wrote some great songs for DD and TDS.
-
Somehow I missed that. I just read it over on ninebullets. From what Jason posted on his myspace page it definitely looks like leaving DBT wasn't amicable on his end. That's too bad.

As much as it doesn't surprise me, it still really sucks. I'm going to miss hearing Jason's songs at DBT shows. "Decoration Day" and "Outfit" were always highlights of their sets. His cover of Moonlight Mile on the last tour was also great. I'm happy to read that Shonna is still in the band, though I imagine that will be tough with Jason no longer in it as well. I hope Jason does some serious touring and comes through DC when I'm not working.

I agree that the solo version of Dress Blues is way better than the band version. (Now part of the reason for that is that it was the first version I heard of the song...and the one that I listened to nonstop for months.) I'm still looking forward the new album. He's written some stellar songs for DBT. It's almost unfair that DBT has three outstanding songwriters.

Could someone PLEASE message me the Loose Fur albums?

Born Again in the USA is a great album. Go out and buy it. -

Interesting tidbit from a Wayne Coyne interview from SXSW... Indicated the Flaming Lips will be touring with MM and the Shins later this year. God I hope they come to DC and I'm not working then. Wayne Coyne on Blender

The other thing that sucks is that it is outdoors...in Baltimore...in August...with almost no shade. That's gonna be one hot day. We went to the first Virgin Fest last year and had a great time. I gotta say though, I hope they come up with a lot of great bands to fill out the lineup. Last year's festival was incredible top to bottom (started the day with the Drive-By Truckers, ended it with the RHCP). If you compare this year's bands so far to last year's top 3-4 bands (RHCP, The Who, and the Flaming Lips), they've got a long way to go to match that this year. I loved the Smashing Pumpkins g

I love, love, love, love me some A.M., and Summerteeth is an amazing record so I'm gonna have to go with the first three. It does make me sad to leave the brilliance of YHF behind, but A.M/BT/ST is just too wonderful to part with. This is a little bit too much like Sophie's Choice.

1. Should've Been in Love 2. How to Fight Loneliness 3. I'm Always in Love 4. Hummingbird 5. Heavy Metal Drummer (gotta love it when Jeff sings this with his son on the bus in IATTBYH) As far as the new stuff goes, my early favorites are Impossible Germany (loved it live, learning to love to the studio version) and Hate it Here. I wouldn't be sad if Shake It Off somehow didn't make it on Sky Blue Sky. And I know this is for another thread, but the stuff I really didn't care for on my first listen of SBS is really growing on me in a good way (except for the aforementioned Shake It Off).

I'd love a PM with the link as well if someone could provide it.
