oooh, does this mean you were at the show...taping??? why the encore break...i'm not sure, but could guess maybe they need to take a break and hit the bathroom or something. as for the folks that were just sitting/empty/seats not enjoying the show...again a guess, but wolftrap is a non-profit national park. they have donors and supporters that get first dibs at ticket buying/season tickets. my friend and i noticed something similar where we were at and figured some of the people sitting were those wolftrap members that simply go to every show. i thought it was a good time and great fun. an

The Washington Post is selling access to its reporters
isadorah replied to Good Old Neon's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
So true. I read the post online everyday. Used to read the print edition. Over the past 10 years there has been a steady decline in its use of proper grammar, overall writing quality, and investigative reporting. I will continue to read it, but will also continue to be annoyed by its ego which has contributed greatly to its overall decline. I also have friends that work for the Post and have an inside scoop on some philosophy to business practices which makes me biased. Again, though, I still read it everyday and find it somewhat informative. Bad grammar by people that are supposed to be exp -

what's your problem? maybe find some facts to back up why you don't think there's doping in the sport and post about that instead of being whatever you want to call this? and ummmm, yeah spawn's dad is a cyclist and will be racing for a national title tomorrow. and i'm pretty sure what he said was that for a lot of athletes it isn't worth it, but one shouldn't be so naive about the fact that it happens. calm down. -

it is the washington post, this does not surprise me. they're desperate. and if they did write nothing but articles about girls with big tits, everyone would still be disappointed and not subscribe because it would be full of typos and grammatical errors and the articles would end up being about girls with wig tots. -
OMG they are in a category all unto themselves!!!!

oh. duh. thanks. after i read this i looked at my email and there it was. had been there for half the day. am so distracted right now...didn't even notice wilco happiness in my inbox. now THAT's something.

It is true, us DC drivers are very polite like that.
-
completely agreed. here in DC if you have some bad driver get in your way driving around the city it is always, always a MD driver, not a VA or DC driver, ALWAYS MD. i'm still holding onto my dislike of DE drivers. maybe they will redeem themselves next weekend.

didn't they say if we ordered the album in the pre-sale we'd get a full digital download of the album. did i imagine that? i only ask because the super-drive in my ancient (yet reliable workhorse) iBook is on the outs and doesn't always work. I was kinda relying on the download for full itunes import instead of getting angry with the superdrive. anyone?

I dunno, I kinda think Delaware drivers are far worse than the Jersey drivers. I'm pretty sure that will still be the case when I venture up that way in a couple of weeks.

since it was socially acceptable behavior in Greek culture, there was no question or controversy at the time the art was created. Gauguin was not praised and held in high regards as an artist in his time and moved to Tahiti in part because of his bad behavior not being accepted in europe. When Gauguin died (of syphilis), his bad behavior wasn't overlooked because he was a good artist. And he put it all out there, the girls in his paintings were the very girls he had his way with. should we aspire and encourage others to aspire to ancient greek culture. no. should we revere the art of that time

it is true, he indeed was multitasking. i'm pretty sure he was also driving.
-
oh no worries. that was a bat signal to someone else. i knew you weren't aiming for me or anything. and if you were, i can take it.
-
Gauguin was a child molester. His work is in museums today and we do go and admire it and a lot of people are none the wiser. I think the point of my rant and frustration is that the frenzy and discussion of Michael Jackson is not about his art. It is about everything combined and it seems his bad behavior is being excused because he was a great artist. I don't think a blanket statement that people must separate art from artist is a fair statement. Art and how one interprets and receives it is to each is own. Some people are able to separate the two. I myself am not and can appreciate the arti

I was going to hop in this thread and post "are we still talking about this" roll my eyes and go on my merry way, but this got kinda stuck in my craw. I disagree wholeheartedly. Maybe in a different time when there was no tv or 24 hour CNN or internet and Gauguin could move to Tahiti and marry a 13 year old girl and contract syphilis from all his indiscretions without any consequences beyond the physical torture of the syphilis...I think art and artist just like science and the means to which it is achieved or any other career and personality should NOT be separated especially if they are in

ahh. i will admit i was mistaken. Sir Stewart, that is the interview i was referring to. at least my memory is still semi-intact.
-
ummmmm, i'm pretty sure he said he would sleep in the same bed as the kids. it was in that 3 part tv interview with that guy, it was a few years back, i think for BBC news. MJ had two kids of his own at that point. i don't have the energy to google it. the interview might have even taken place right after he dangled the baby over the balcony. although, i'm going to be completely go wishy washy on where i stand and say things aren't always what they seem.
