Smokestack Joe replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
cracker is one of my all-time favs as well. good times from seeing them live, no bullshit show, david lowery is a good guy. Favorite songs: Movie Star, Teen Angst, I Want Everything, Duty Free, Pictures Of Matchstick Men, Been Around the World, Don't Fuck Me Up (With Peace And Love) -
thats you i meant i guess.

dropped D chord, jealous of Tweedy's Laminated Cat, thats how you play Dropped D or various Neil Young renditions.

ive given this record a lot of listens to make a opinion on it. I was somewhat expectational going into this record after what i thought were excellent Bennett records that preceded this one. upon first listen i was disappointed because of my expectation. i was looking for more God's Coffee and Genevera type stuff. I think Defeat delievered some of that music, Thank You and Surveying the Damage come to mind. I was unnattached to songs like Phonebook and the first track, too much overlapping noise, hard to listen to. My most liked track is Im Feeling Fine, i love the piano/harmony/"wooh

Tweedy/Wilco: Milwaukee Pabst Theatre confirmed
Smokestack Joe replied to Smokestack Joe's topic in Just A Fan
welll according to the flyers/posters/box office that i read, it states wilco/mmj NOv. 21. i was in a bit of disbelief myself. if it doesnt go down, please dont lynch me. -
I've deprived myself of Calexico music for so long. i went to the $10 show at beautiful wonderful Pabst theatre in milwaukee tonight only knowing a few songs in the Calexico catalog and they blew me away, melted my face as they say. unbelievable musical energy, total musicianship. truly an amazing live band. this was the first time they played in milwaukee so i like to think they pumped up the show. they seemed happy to be here. the crowd was really into the show/music. i picked up Feast of Wire and Hot Rail. I know i wont be dissappointed. every part of the band was impressive and enjoya

I was at the Pabst Theatre tonight in Milwaukee, Wi for Calexico (another great story) and confirmed two 2 tweedy appearences in the next months. yes, as said before/earlier, Tweedy solo on Oct 30. and Wilco / My Morning Jacket Nov 21. go see it at the Pabst Theatre, a treasure place in the Midwest (now good enough for tweedy/Wilco)

Smokestack Joe replied to stevej's topic in Someone Else's Song
try the new Tim O'Reagan album, very similar to Jayhawks sound, he was the drummer plus Louris, Perlman, Grotberg all play on the record. -
